My Social Insurance Number Is Going To Be Suspended
August 18, 2020 4:28pm CST
In Canada we have SIN Social Insurance Numbers. We need to enter it on the forms when we have a job. It is how our earnings are tracked. I keep getting phone calls saying, my SIN has been suspended. How can it be suspended? It is just a number that identifies me. Scammers need to think out their scam a little more.

@LadyDuck The initial call is just a recording telling you how much trouble you are in and that RCMP (Royal Canadian Mounted Police) are already notified. You have to press 1 to speak to a person to "deal" with it. They don't waste their time on people who are just going to hang up. Hubby did talk to one of them once. They told him a place to meet them in person to pay. I wish he had called the police, they could go have met the scammers.
@paigea I love harassing real humans who try to scam me. I great fun with the one's who symapthetically ask "And how are you today?" That's when I start to complain about my explosive diahorrhea and for some reason they put the phone down before I get into my stride.
Sadly, they do. These scammers will ask you to pay your debt in iTunes cards. In our local news, I read this. A convenience store staff called the police to convince a customer that they didn't need to buy all these cards to send to "Revenue Canada" The customer left, and later in the day the police were called by staff at another store. Same customer trying to buy the cards.
