A Visit from a Dragonfly

I was watering the lilies the other day and this little guy kept buzzing around--a dragonfly! He finally found a landing spot and I was able to get a photo of him.
This dragonfly was pretty, with an amazing blue body. He stayed around the whole time I was out there visiting a few flowers and then he went on his way.
Have you ever looked at a dragonfly up close before? It is truly amazing at the beauty they hold.

I think dragonflies are the coolest insects ever! I love seeing them, and how they are able to fly with their double sets of wings. They definitely look like creatures out of a science fiction movie!

@kareng I wonder if something like that has ever been done in a movie? You know, like back in the 50s when they made all those B movies about radioactive insects that grow larger than life and terrorize cities?

@kareng What a great capture! I don't believe I've ever seen a dragonfly up close. I mean I have seen them a lot flying around but not so close like this before! Thank you kindly for sharing!
