Viewing Lorelei from the Rhine, Germany

Five years ago, about this time, we were travelling along the Rhine Valley in our motor-home. We were on the opposite side to the Lorelei, a 132 metre high, slate rock. Legend has it that a beautiful siren sits on the rock, combing her hair. Her singing lures sailors and causes them to crash to their deaths on the rocks.
We had a very nice meal in a restaurant opposite the Lorelei. The restaurant sign can be seen in the top right-hand corner of the collage. The other shots were all taken in the vicinity. I like the cutout of the boy on the bridge.

Aw Judy hopefully you can come back there after all the pandemic, or even better getting back to travelling again!

We were looking down on all the very fancy cruise ships that were motoring down - and up - the river.

The continent was full of bikes. And especially so in the Pyrenees and French Alps. We even came across the 'Tour de Limousine', like a mini Tour de France with a huge cavalcade before and after.

There were lots of quirky things to see. All their roundabouts were decorated too and I took dozens of photos of them. I hope you call them roundabouts - haha - placed on roads at corners to help keep the traffic flowing. At least that's the idea.

Haha - that's why I thought I'd better mention it was a cutout. It's well done.

Such a lovely place, and glad you got to visit the Lorelei. I've never been there myself, but I have heard of it.
