Counts as hydration?

Hi all, Here's a little quandary of mine - I know that soda and coffee don't count as hydration or your total amount of water during a day, but what about this products? Here we have a carbonated, 0 calorie flavored water, and assorted powder mixes that are added to water. Some have caffeine in them. Some don't. I'm trying to be better hydrated but water is just, so, boring. Lol. Photo: Mine

I stopped drinking soda and have some of the powder you put in water. I am wondering if flavored water is better than soda. You are so right, water is boring and does not taste good either.

@FayeHazel We never know if something is safe or not. Once, a science teacher passed out gobs of mercury for us to play with. He did not know about mercury poisoning.

Good for you. I still like soda too, alas, but healthier not to do it. I think the flavored water is better because less chemicals and no sodium ... but.... I could be wrong

I think you count them. I drink tons of water, but it evens out because I like Coca Cola too much. I just tell myself water helps a person lose weight. Too bad I don't feel compelled to exercise (I guess I can't count walking my dogs).

Oh good! I'm happy you balance your water and Coke, but you're right. There is just something so nice about a Coke

I would guess that these all count as hydration aids. Luckily I love the water we have here. It's straight from the heavens.

You'd think, right? I've heard it's doing with caffeine and certain of chemicals being dehydrators

I remember back when I was on WW you would allowed to count drinks like diet soda, coffee, and tea as part of your hydration requirements for those who couldn't stomach all the water. Water is the best..but the others are acceptable I think.

They can hydrate, but my gastroenterologist with 2 MDs and a 2 PhDs and the chief of Gastroenterology at Yale New Haven Hospital told me that only water and vodka count and are the best way to get your body totally hydrated. Yes, vodka!

What I don't get is why it's not considered hydration because it is liquid. Whatever. I like boring plain water.

I've heard it's something dealing with caffeine and other chemicals being dehydrating

I usually add a piece of lemon or orange to my plain water to improve its flavour.
