A Fight in a Store

I recently went to a store to return something I could not use. There was not much room upfront. There were circles on the floor in a semi-circle arrangement for social distancing. I was standing on one of the spots and saw a woman in a wheelchair heading for the checkout. A couple of people started yelling at her to wait her turn. Then a man walked in and ran in front of her saying that he was more important so he gets to go first. Then people were yelling at the woman and others the man. Everyone was yelling at everyone else. I decided to leave and forget returning the item. I don't know what happened after that. Have you seen any incidents involving distancing, masks, or other coronavirus misery? How did it make you feel?

No, I haven't. That's awful to have that happen. I would have left too.

People are wound up on such a tight string that anything can happen.

@just4him I do not want to get involved in fights, shooting, etc. I leave when something happens.

@akalinus Yes, they are. Fear rules everyone right now.

I have not seen something like that. That would be scary to hear all those yelling.

I am wondering if they had to call the police. People were pretty upset. I just wanted to get away from all that.

I've seen videos of such fights . . . but I am glad I have not personally been near one. Sometimes I feel like manners have gone out the door . . . why can't people be more diplomatic and kinder about these incidents - is there really a need to yell ?

@akalinus Yes, it's a lot of stress . . . some are handling it better than others. Some people are like ticking time bombs and can be set off at any moment .

@much2say I know the feeling. It is best to stay away from them when possible if you don't know them.

I think people let their emotions get out of control. We are locked in our houses most of the time, have to obey new rules like distancing and mask-wearing. People are out of work and there are shortages at many stores. It is too much to deal with.

I have not seen anything like that. I generally stick with Costco and grocery stores these days, sometimes I'll go to Sams.

This was a home store where I bought a stickup light. It was too big, so I was going to return it and get my money back.

Makes sense @akalinus not many people return items to a grocery store.

@rebelann A home store is where you buy things to improve your house.

It can blow up in a hurry. I don't want to be caught in a shooting incident or any violence.

@CarolDM I agree with you there. I try to also but sometimes, it is necessary to go to a store.

That man was really rude. He should have let the woman in the wheelchair go first. Ugh! I guess he doesn't have a third age mom, dad or grandparent.

I would have let her go first too. But she was screaming just as loud as anyone else.

I really don't understand why people have to do this sort of stuff. Surely there are better ways of dealing with situations.
