Mail in Voting?

Hello all, So, I was spending a little time catching up on a little news and what is going on in the world, well to be a little more honest, the things in my world as the saying goes. I was reading some local and national news. I came across this yet again. The Democraps claim that Trump is shutting down the post office and removing mailboxes, that he is preventing people from voting. Those are great little oneliners to make Trump look bad of course but what is the real truth behind those little lines. Let’s take a look. The post office, ok don’t worry your local post office is not closing anytime soon. Now due to the Corona virus some did limit their hours, close temporarily to make the inside of the building a little safer much like every other business did. What they then referred to is the little mailboxes in public places, they tried to say how those were all being removed so people will not be able to mail in their votes. Not exactly true again. Have some been removed, sure they have just like every year there are some that are removed for repair and then replaced, some are removed because either they are being vandalized or not used enough. Now how does all this stop people from voting? The Post Office is till open and people can take their mail there and mail it even if the little mailboxes are not around. People been doing that for years, where I have lived. So that as an excuse to not be able to mail in something is far-fetched. Why do we even want mail in voting? Go to a polling place and cast your vote and bring your ID. Not hard to do, we been doing it for years now. But that is another thing they don’t want is ID to vote. Why? You have to show ID for many things and now we don’t need that to vote? They use this excuse that some communities can’t get ID. What? Where is this at? You need ID for so many things is there really that many people walking around with no ID at all? I mean they must be walking cause you need ID to be driving. All these things are just excuses for the Democraps to try and cheat the system if you ask me. Who are the 51 million ballots they want sending out, going to? How are we going to know that they actually went to the right person and filled out by the right person? Seems a big risk to cheating to me. Without ID at the voting how are we to know that these people are who they say they are and that they are supposed to be voting?

On the flip side, keep in mind that when the mail-in ballots are received, the signature of the "person" who filled out the ballot has to match the signature on file. I would never want to even do mail-in voting, because in the last election thousands and thousands of mail-in ballots were thrown out because the signatures didn't match. People seem to forget about that. But I do agree with you that it is not too much to ask for people to show ID in order to vote.

@Bensen32 I agree. Our voting system was never designed to have votes mailed in.

Not to mention what if I send in the mail ballots and go to my polling station will they catch that I voted twice? I don't know just seems like there are to many ways to cheat the system with the mail in voting.

@moffittjc Of course I don't trust politicians as it is so don't give them any more ways to cheat.

Is there evidence that More Dems vote by mail than Repubs? I've been following this stuff, but not closely. I've heard that Trump's base is less-educated white males, but I'd think he'd also be popular among older people who tend to be more Conservative. Wouldn't old-timers, who might have a hard time getting to the polls, or standing in line, benefit from voting by mail? I agree with you about the ID thing. Who doesn't have an ID of some sort?

@Bensen32 I suppose the Repubs could do the same thing, especially if the ballots are being sent to those registered as Dems (or Repubs, in the latter case). But then the Dems might whine that the Repubs are being hypocritical, being anti-mail-in while simultaneously sending out oodles of main-in ballots. More finger-pointing on both sides. Little progress toward common ultimate goals.

@TheHorse Yeah I mean either side could do it and that is why I think it should not be done.

Well I certainly am not an expert on this but this is what I have heard. The Dems are pushing to send out 51 million ballots not who are those going to? If they are the ones pushing for this I'm guessing mostly dems are being sent to? They want to just "randomly" send them out to people not even asking for them. So these are not to people asking so we have no idea who they are being sent out to.

Right, that is their only plan really, that I can tell. Listening and reading about the DNC crap going on this week this is what I have figured out from it. Blame everything on Trump, give no detail on what they are going to do, give no plan on how they are going to do anything different. It's like listening to a 5 year old. I don't like him and you shouldn't like him cause I like you. That is their whole plan.

Over 2000 years ago, I know there were less people on the planet but still even with their limited technology the Roman Empire knew who their citizens were by means of something called a census. Fast forward to the present. A highly technically advanced nation on the planet has difficulty having a fair election.

@Bensen32 Now I see the post office is getting a big shopping cart full of money. Will they be hiring?
