Day 20 Promise 475 Mark 1:1 The beginning of the gospel of Jesus Christ, the Son of God; 2 As it is written in the prophets, Behold, I send my messenger before thy face, which shall prepare thy way before thee. 3 The voice of one crying in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the Lord, make his paths straight. 4 John did baptize in the wilderness, and preach the baptism of repentance for the remission of sins. 5 And there went out unto him all the land of Judaea, and they of Jerusalem, and were all baptized of him in the river of Jordan, confessing their sins. 6 And John was clothed with camel’s hair, and with a girdle of a skin about his loins; and he did eat locusts and wild honey; 7 And preached, saying, There comes one mightier than I after me, the latchet of whose shoes I am not worthy to stoop down and unloose. 8 I indeed have baptized you with water: but he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost. What do you do when someone makes claims that sound to good to be true? Do you seek answers, research the claims, look for proof the claim is a lie so you can denounce what the person claimed? Yes. People do it every day with people as well as products on the market. John the Baptist was a man foretold by Isaiah who would be the forerunner of Jesus to prepare the people for their Messiah. Isaiah 40:3 The voice of him who cries in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the LORD, make straight in the desert a highway for our God. Many people went out to the desert to hear what he said and were baptized by him for the remission of their sins. John claimed that his baptism was nothing compared to what the person after him would do because He would baptize with the Holy Spirit and fire. As Christians, you know this happened on the day of Pentecost, a Jewish festival when Jews from all over the known world gathered in their home country. Acts 2:1 And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place. 2 And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting. 3 And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them. 4 And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance. 5 And there were dwelling at Jerusalem Jews, devout men, out of every nation under heaven. 6 Now when this was noised abroad, the multitude came together, and were confounded, because that every man heard them speak in his own language. 7 And they were all amazed and marveled, saying one to another, Behold, are not all these which speak Galilaeans? 8 And how hear we every man in our own tongue, wherein we were born? 9 Parthians, and Medes, and Elamites, and the dwellers in Mesopotamia, and in Judaea, and Cappadocia, in Pontus, and Asia, 10 Phrygia, and Pamphylia, in Egypt, and in the parts of Libya about Cyrene, and strangers of Rome, Jews and proselytes, 11 Cretes and Arabians, we do hear them speak in our tongues the wonderful works of God. When God sets out to fulfill His promises, He fulfills it to the letter. Nothing is left to question whether or not it’s true. John the Baptist was the forerunner of Jesus. When Jesus returned to heaven, He sent the Holy Ghost who baptized all believers with the Holy Ghost and fire. John 14:16 And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you forever; 17 Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it sees him not, neither knows him: but ye know him; for he dwells with you, and shall be in you. This is the person John prophesied about when he said the person coming after him was mightier than he. People listened to him and believed because they wanted their Messiah to come soon and deliver them from Rome’s power. Today, men and women teach about Jesus’ return. We don’t know when the day will come, but we wait expectantly, just as the people did then when they waited for their Messiah and listened to John preach about Him. Let’s pray: Father, help me listen to You without doubt and unbelief as I wait for Jesus’ return. Give me ears to listen and hear the truth of Your promise. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen. I tend to be an "empiricist," looking for evidence to support claims. But I never (well, they say "Never say never")...try not to...denounce others for their beliefs.

@just4him So far so good. Yeah, I try to remember "Judge not, that ye be not judged." I'm not even sure where that's from!
