It is already starting

It is about ten days until we open up the school. We all want to be safe. The infection seems to be already starting.
Our superintendent tested positive for Covid 19. He has been quarantining since Wednesday.
I wonder if he was infected when we started meeting together.
I wonder who exposed him.
I wonder who is next.
We see everywhere that the spread is already starting.

We do not have kids on sight yet, just doing the classroom set up. I am pretty sure he got it at some statewide administrators meeting or something. They are now saying that there is no lasting immunity, people get reinfected three or four months later. That is concerning to me.

@GardenGerty I have heard the opposite on immunity. That the virus won't stop spreading until immunity is built up. That is also part of the vaccine; providing immunity.

Lots of places still have those with covid or no sign of it yet but are passing it around. Our school year starts on the 8th but it’s from home and it’s long distance

Please stay safe - please stay safe - please stay safe!!!
Here we started distant learning from about a couple weeks ago . . . there is no way we can have school in-class with our numbers. We know what has happened to some schools/colleges that have reopened already. So please be careful!!!1 person likes this

Our classrooms have about thirteen students each. I work resource room and support identified students. We probably will never have more than six kids in the room at once. I will be in the fourth grade rooms for some learning blocks. All of our classrooms have working sinks, hand sanitizer dispensers, spray to clean tables and a spray to take care of things we cannot wipe. We will wear masks. I believe, however, that by October we will be back to remote.

@GardenGerty It does sound like they are making conditions as safe as possible for everyone. There is no way they could do that here . . . too many kids (way too many), and there is not enough funding or anything to keep things extra sanitary (I heard some of our district schools lacked soap . . . this is well before the pandemic!). October . . . I just hope that if any cases should pop up, that it would be contained right away before any breakout happens. Please stay safe - I know you will do everything in your power to do that!

If I had symptoms, probably. If we have a fever we are not to be allowed into the building.

Just keep doing what you're supposed to and hopefully you'll be good.

That is exactly how we approach it. This same administrator has said any school that has a cluster will go to remote. Definition of a cluster is two or more students. We shall see.

It likely will be. We closed right after spring break last year, but before that we had both flu and non flu viruses going really heavy among our kids, lots of absences. I think Covid was here long before they knew it.

We have been doing what we can. At this point we have been pretty good about social distance while we worked, but of course we have no kids yet.

I hope so too. I feel pretty confident. I wonder where he got it.

I have not been directly around him at any time, so I guess it depends on where he got it.

I am wondering where he got it. Based on the small handful of cases we have in our county, they are not the demographics he would be around. It makes me feel like he got it at some administator meeting where they met in person.
