What a Miserable Day!

Hi friends! We are getting leftover rain today from Hurricane Laura. It’s a good day to stay indoors to myLot, cook, and read.
I’m going to make 4 or 5 meatloafs with organic, antibiotic, and hormone free ground beef today. I will serve one for dinner with my French mashed potatoes and a vegetable. It’s a good meatloaf type of day.
Last night’s Friday date night dinner was by hubby’s request - shrimp scampi and a simple salad of romaine and arugula lettuces, Vidalia onion, and Gorgonzola cheese. Hubby loved it. I don’t serve bread at home with dinner. As a treat, we had a bit of Belgium chocolate when we watched a movie together.
Life is what you make of it, and I will make this miserable day a great one!

We never have miserable days, the weather can be horrible, but we always find a way to enjoy our day. I bought Gorgonzola in Italy last Friday, we parked the car in Switzerland near the border and quickly went out to grab our magazines and some cheese.

@DianneN I bought Gorgonzola in Italy and French Roquefort at the local grocery store. I like to spread the Gorgonzola and I crumble the Roquefort on salads. I think the Gorgonzola you have in your country is not exactly the Italian version, because I see that you "crumbled" it.

@lovebuglena That's what I usually do, too. This is just a bit more fattening.

@DianneN I will try that next time. Usually I add warm milk and butter to my mashed potatoes.

@DocAndersen I just returned. I visit their graves every single day in my rock garden. Not exactly fun, but peaceful and nostalgic.

I am not a fan of meatloaf but my boyfriend made that for his family the other night too. Do you freeze the others? I don't eat much bread either but we do have it for sandwiches and to make french toast here n there when we have the kids.

@Blondie2222 It does come in handy. Why make one when you can make several at the same time.

That is a great deal of stuff from your kitchen.
Yet I won't have any of it please!
One I am a vegetarian!
And my tummy is full as well (addressed to the cheeses and the onions)
Now if it were Hogwarts school and I had been Harry Potter, I could have invaded your Refrigerator remotely by rotating a magical stick or sending a Barn owl!

Thanks, Hanni. The meatloaf was delicious and we turned the night into a Saturday date night. The mashed potatoes call for heavy cream warmed first with melted butter. Not too different from the usual way. Last night I added minced garlic to them and it was heavenly!!! I was considering onions. lol

Oh - you got that rain! We are far from getting any rain, though it'd be so welcomed. My goodness - that's a lot of yummy meatloafs, but like we discussed before, it's a time saver to have that all done ahead of time. Your date night dinner looks wonderful and I'm sure tasted divine ! Seriously, happiness is a happy tummy!

@DianneN I bought RANA ravioli, fresh but not hand made. No I have never made my own pasta. Too many good Italian restaurants in CT to bother. My jaw can't open wide but other than that no pain. Eating carefully lol

@BelleStarr I've made my own pasta. It was pretty easy, but haven't bothered since the kids lived here 100 years ago.
Well, just continue healing and be careful.

Our son brought the sun!!!! He stopped by with some essential gifts for us. He is the sunshine of our life and always so kind and thoughtful. He grew up into a compassionate, successful, caring young man.
I'm enjoying the day and please do the same!
