My New Obsession

I started learning Spanish over thirty years ago, back in high school. I have always wanted to become fluent in Spanish. However, life has been so busy and, at time, so overwhelming, I just have not had time. Through the years, I would pick up a book and try to study. Three months ago, I decided to get serious about learning. I have many books and online sites to which I refer. I also downloaded an app called Hello Talk which allows me to interact with other language learners around the world. I am loving the learning and determined to see it through. I will admit, it is difficult. If there are any foreign language learners out there who can give me tips, I will gladly receive them. After I finish learning Spanish, I want to learn French, Italian, and German.

@gnatsmom If it is very important to you then you need to stick with it and practice it all the time. Are there people you can practice with?

Yes, I have met a couple of people through Hello Talk. We talk on the phone and are about to start video chats.

Good for you! The only language I´m fluid on is Spanish (my native tongue). I have good vocabulary in English as I read a lot in English, but my accent is miserable.

I do pretty well reading and writing spanish because I have time to formulate my sentences. However, listening and speaking are still a struggle.

I used Duolingo to brush up on my French. I've always liked learning languages. I did French and German at school but I'm not very good at either.

@gnatsmom I had an email about the kindergarten program. I think it is a great site.

I, too, use Duolingo. I really like it. I just found out that Duolingo has a kindergarten program to help kids with their phonics and reading. I am using that with my first grade grandson.
