I heard the news that some people were victimized by a lending app or apps from the Play Store. The scheme is to let the person register and allow the app to get all the personal information before they will lend him or her money online. Once it was done and requested the money, they will send the money but it is not fully given. It is only 4% of the total requested money. The rule of thumb is to pay the debt of money for 7 days. If the person cannot pay with the given period. They will threaten him or her using social media. I tried to check the Play Store, but I cannot pinpoint which one of them. It was not broadcasted from the local news about it. Have you encountered this lending app? What will you do if being threatened by these scammers? Image Credit: howtogeek.com

I did not know there was anything like this. They must be charging some interest on the amount they are giving

I think they are blackmailing the victims. At some point, they are threatening to be killed.

I guess it is better to search more about the apps if they are legit or not.

that's really scary, that's why i am hesitant to borrow money anywhere - especially from an application. I hope someone reports that application.

@Shavkat that's great to hear. But knowing our justice system.. it may take a long while for justice to be served and they may even get a lighter sentence.

It was being reported to the National Privacy Commission now. They are filing a formal case to this app's owner and staff. I heard they will be imprisoned for at least 6 years.

I hope they will be punished big time. I do not have the name of the mobile app. Hopefully, they will broadcast what the app is it.

I agree. We really need to be vigilant. Not only mobile apps, but the scammers are also religiously sending malicious links on emails. I must admit that I was a victim of Pay Maya user in the past.

Nope. I've cut up and buried my VISA credit card 4 years ago. The lesson is, never go into debt.

I never had any credit cards. I have the same reason and that is, I do not want to be buried in debts.

Yeah that’s the risk when you go into thia kinds of app since you allow the to get access to your personal info when you download and register to get a loan from them. l still think that you get funds from legit lending companies than through here where they can harass you when you defaulted to pay them on time. At least those legit ones will try to perform their best to let you pay and give you ample time before harassing you with legalities they can do to impel you to pay them.

I hope I am not going to fall into this kind of situation. I also heard that the victims are experiencing this now. Some of them were being threatened to die because they knew where they are living at present.

There are really scammers and trying to get something to people. I cannot blame these people who indulge in this scheme because they need money, too.
