Out the door it goes

I think of one more thing every time I think that I am done selling stuff. This time it started with the wireless charger and Qi Adapter that won't work for my phone. I mean it works but it overheats really fast.
So that goes in the "I'm going to sell this" category. Then I look up and I think "You know... those two things don't do me any good." It's a barbie doll that was my mom's, and something I got for my birthday one year. Then I look to another shelf and go "well, I don't really know that I want that either." That being a porcelain doll.
I need to ask and make sure that one relative is okay with me selling these items because they were given to me by them... I don't think they'll care, though.
I need to get that purple tote down and see if there's anything in there I want to sell. I know some of it I'll want to keep (one pair of my mother's earrings, some cards, some other memorabilia) but most of it can either be donated or sold, I think.
It feels good to have so little. I need to think about my closet again too.
It feels freeing to get rid of stuff...

Downsizing and decluttering can feel so good.

Absolutely. If it doesn't look neat and tidy, I'm getting rid of it.

Thank You. I know it will be nice for us both to have more room and a few extra dollars in our pocket.

I agree that it's very freeing to get rid of stuff. I've adapted quite a minimalist strategy over the past 5 years or so, and found that my life is so much less complicated when I have less stuff to distract me and interfere with me doing the things I want to do. Now, with that being said, I somehow still collected too much stuff over the past 5 years, and I think it is time for me to go through everything and get rid of a lot of crap that is doing nothing more than collecting dust at my house. My theory is that if I haven't touched it in 6 months, then I don't need it.

Six months is a good time period I think. I like being able to stare at empty shelves. I need to work on the closet too, making sure I have the least amount of clothes needed.

@moffittjc I have like four pairs of shoes but only wear one. I only keep them because I know I'll eventually need them. 117 shirts is a lot but it's so easy to get a pile of them from street fairs and gigs.

@ScribbledAdNauseum I just cleaned out my closet and pulled 117 shirts and got rid of them (donated). It was such a good feeling. And I love how much space I have in my closet. Next I'm going to work on the pants, and then after that probably jackets. I'll save shoes for last. I have a lot of shoes to go through.

It seems neverending, doesn't it? It takes very little to make a person happy though. Possessions arent' everything.

@sallypup We have one of those here too. It didn't last very long when we got it from my sister and brother in law. Family member slept in it and broke the back of it.

@ScribbledAdNauseum You're right though I admit to liking having even a breaking down recliner to sit in.

That's great! It's a good time to make progress with that kind of stuff.

I wish I could get to a cabinet that has movies in it. It's in another room of the house, and I know I could get some good money for it.
