I Found Out what the Noise Was

A while ago, I wrote a post about a mysterious siren-like noise I heard in the middle of the night. I got a lot of suggestions but none of them were quite right. Well, I heard it again. It was during the day so I looked outside in the direction of the noise. It was a truck backing up. Trucks have the noise as a safety feature so people can get out of the way if they hear it. I don't know what truck could have been backing up in the middle of the night. Was it someone trying to steal something? Or what? Did you ever hear a noise you could not identify?

I heard one this morning. I thought it might be a backup noise, but it wasn't.

@just4him Maybe my noise went to visit you for a while. This is 2020, the year where anything is possible.

@akalinus It was while I was out with my son when he took me shopping this morning. I didn't see where the noise came from. I didn't see anyone backing up.

I have, but we live way off the road, so I never see it.

@akalinus Well, I'm sure you do. When we lived in the city in apartments, it was always something going on.

@popciclecold It is interesting to watch but I just don't want to get mixed up in it.

I live in the middle of a trailer park so I see and hear a lot of things. It keeps life from being totally boring.

I heard that noise once a week when the truck for trash containers is collecting the trash in the neighborhood and of course our trash containers.

They usually have a different sound, more like beeping. It was not a garbage truck the other day, just a big old truck going back and forth looking for a neighbor.

Back horn which triggers when you shift your gear as Reverse. We have so many variety of back horn here which are funny too. One day I got confused with my phone and that horn. I was like who keep a phone ring tone as their back horn

I did not know that they came with different noises. That would be really confusing. The one I heard was more like a steady hum or whistle.

Do you absolutely need to find out where it came from?

The truck was backing up on the road by my house. I did not need to go far to find out what the noise was.

Was a beeping type of siren? The problem here is we CAN identify most of the noises we hear in the neighborhood - and we don't like a lot of them !

we often hear booms in this area. We've learned that it is training exercises at the military base

At least, you can relax because you know where they are coming from. But it must be surprising when you hear one. Sometimes, there are unexplained booms in this area. The military always says that they were not involved and no one knows what the booms are.
