Henna is a natural dye that is prepared from the leaves of the Henna tree which is also known as 'Lawsonia Inermis'. The raw leaves of this plants are made into a fine paste by grinding them and the paste is packed on a plastic cone. The tip of the cone is punctured where from the paste is squeezed out in thin strings to make the design on the hand. The henna is used in India by the ladies at the time of festivals, weddings and any other auspicious events in India. The experts who use this natural dye have a wonderful talent of making designs on the hands! These designs are like tattoos but they are temporary! Do you know what is Henna and have you ever used it?

Yes, I know people from South India they use lot of henna. In fact when we were young this paste was home made in the traditional stone grinder by either my mother or grand mother! Do you use the ready made cones or grind yourself?

During my childhood days, we like to crush the leaves with lemon juice and apply all over my hands.. It looks beautiful when it start fading. And if we don't have henna, we go for balsam leaves .. I missed those days.. applying on fingernails, toe nails and on palm.. Later on we become lazy and use henna powder to apply for our hair.. and never crush or make paste any leaves

Ys, I also recall grinding the leaves on the traditional grinder to make it into a nice paste to apply on the hand! Now if you are interested , you can use the ready made henna paste cones which are not only cheaper but they are handy too!
