Day 40
Promise 498
Luke 15:3 And he spoke this parable unto them, saying,
4 What man of you, having a hundred sheep, if he loses one of them, doth not leave the ninety and nine in the wilderness, and go after that which is lost, until he finds it?
5 And when he hath found it, he lays it on his shoulders, rejoicing.
6 And when he comes home, he calls together his friends and neighbors, saying unto them, Rejoice with me; for I have found my sheep which was lost.
7 I say unto you, that likewise joy shall be in heaven over one sinner who repents, more than over ninety and nine just persons, which need no repentance.
8 Either what woman having ten pieces of silver, if she loses one piece, doth not light a candle, and sweep the house, and seek diligently till she finds it?
9 And when she hath found it, she calls her friends and her neighbors together, saying, Rejoice with me; for I have found the piece which I had lost.
10 Likewise, I say unto you, there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner who repents.
We’ve all lost things. We search diligently until we find what we lost, or replace it if it can’t be found.
Jesus told a parable about losing something valuable and the lengths people would go to find it and the celebration they would have when found. He told the people God is the same way when people repent. He rejoices with the angels.
As Christians, you know the total joy you felt when you accepted Jesus as Savior and Lord. Nothing compares to the overwhelming awe of knowing Jesus, knowing you can go to Him day or night and He will hear you and never turn you away.
When you repent, total forgiveness is yours. God wipes your slate clean. You are a newborn babe. Everything is brand new.
2 Corinthians 5:17 Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new. (KJV)
You are born again, not from your mother’s womb, not from reincarnation, but by the Holy Spirit who remakes you in the image of God.
John 3:1 There was a man of the Pharisees, named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews:
2 The same came to Jesus by night, and said unto him, Rabbi, we know that thou art a teacher come from God: for no man can do these miracles that you do, except God be with him.
3 Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.
4 Nicodemus said unto him, How can a man be born when he is old? Can he enter the second time into his mother’s womb, and be born?
5 Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.
6 That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.
7 Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again.
8 The wind blows where it lists, and you hear the sound thereof, but cannot tell whence it comes, and whither it goes: so is everyone who is born of the Spirit.
Just as God celebrates in heaven, you can celebrate your redemption through Jesus Christ, knowing that whenever you sin, and you will, when you repent, God will forgive you and clear you of all wrongdoing.
1 John 1:9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. (KJV)
Are you lost? Jesus is looking for you. Let go of this world with all its temptations, and turn to Jesus. He will forgive you and throw a party in heaven for you.
Let’s pray: Father, I once was lost, but You found me. You rejoiced over me and threw a party in my honor when I accepted Jesus as Savior and Lord. Help me remain steadfast in You, knowing that when I falter, I can come to You and You will forgive me of all wrongdoing. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
