Here We Go Again

As we draw nearer to the election in November, here goes the media again reporting that multiple swing states are showing Biden leading in the polls. Anyone remember how much Hilary Clinton was supposedly going to demolish Trump by in 2016? The simple truth is that these polls are weighted, slanted, biased, and are designed more to serve as 'influencers' more than to serve as any real gauge of where the voter's minds currently are. Keep in mind that for the past few months Biden has been all but absent from the public at large, and even when he has held rallies, a word I use very lightly considering the sheer lack of an audience at any of them, there is no visible enthusiasm and we have not even gotten to the debates yet, which I think will be disastrous for Biden. Drive around and count the Trump signs and then try to find the Biden ones. The Trump signs outnumber Biden signs almost 5 to 1. That is extremely telling, and let me tell you why. Trump supporters are typically seen as "silent supporters," in that there are numerous Trump supporters who will not be outwardly vocal or demonstrative. If visual Trump signs outnumber Biden signs 5 to 1, how many more Trump supporters are out there not publicly displaying their support? Many. In contrast, we also know that liberals in general, and Biden supporters for sure, are extremely vocal and demonstrative of their support. If the supporters for Biden aren't as visible as the polls would suggest, one can only surmise that there is something about those polls that are not telling the whole story, let alone a true story.

I've been noticing that in Green Bay. There are Trump signs everywhere, large, big, and small. I've seen ONE Biden sign. It looked out of place.

Wisconsin is one of the interesting ones, because of course Trump won Wisconsin in 2016 and of course Wisconsin is an essential swing state. As I travel throughout Wisconsin, all the way from Milwaukee and up to Green Bay, Marshfield, Eau Claire, Mauston and elsewhere within the state, that is something I have kept a very close eye on. Trump signs. They are EVERYWHERE. Of course, you will find less in Milwaukee and less in Madison, but those are not surprising. According to the polls Biden has a 6 point lead in Wisconsin right now, and I don't see how that is even remotely possible if I am counting the signs alone.

@just4him Even though I am somewhat biased, I think your gut is well informed.

@porwest I agree it"s totally unpatriotic. I didn't like Obama, but I didn't want to destroy our country to spite him.

@1creekgirl I would hope so. I was talking to someone the other day who outright admitted he would rather destroy the country than vote for Trump just because he does not like him. I think that is foolish and dangerous, and to be quite honest... Unpatriotic.

I don't want to sound melodramatic, but I really believe this will be the most important election we've ever had.

It is something we tend to say each time elections come around, that each one has dire consequences if we get it wrong. For the first time since I can remember, this one really DOES matter, and the consequences of getting it wrong on THIS one actually literally scares the hell out of me.

@1creekgirl Yeah. That terrifies me. The bad part is that if it turned that direction I am not sure we could ever get the country back.

From what I understand just because you win the popular vote doesn't mean you win the election. Hilary had the popular vote from what I remember but Trump won. Biden is not fit to be president. I think even those against Trump will vote for Trump just so Biden doesn't win.

@porwest Did it happen often that a candidate won both the popular vote and then electoral vote?

Much of the time that is true. Winning the popular vote does not always seal the deal. But there is, of course, good reason for that, because much of the bulk of the popular vote come from especially places like California. We have the electoral college, of course, so that ALL states are considered equally and fairly, and PROPORTIONATELY in the election. If we had the popular vote as the determining vote, only about 3 or 4 states would generally determine who the president is, leaving the rest of the states without a say.

@lovebuglena It is actually most often the case that the victor wins both the electoral college and the popular vote. There have only been 5 elections where the victor did not win the popular vote, and 3 of them were in recent history. Close elections tend to skew the numbers as well as abnormal voter turnout rates in certain regions—incidentally, it is higher turnout in blue states that tend to skew the numbers the most. In the case of Trump's election almost all of the gap in the popular vote came from one state...California. That is not at all surprising as it is one of the largest states in the union and EXTREMELY liberal. But it is also well in line with the argument FOR the electoral college because essentially California would have decided the election.

It will be an interesting additional four years of Trump, and I very much look forward to the conversations we might have. I think even you can see the writing is on the wall on this one. There is no way Biden wins. Not going to happen. Period.

We don´t see any of that here where we are logically but I was moved by the dedication some people specially women towards that passing of Ruth sorry I forgot her surname again she was a Judge on the I don´t know what but she did fight for women´s rights always that is what I did get to see a little bit of quite moving and although I don´t know or did not know of her all the Polls stuff brought that news around.

My city is an island of blue in a sea of red, meaning Florida is a red state, but Gainesville is about as liberal as you can get. Yet I see Trump signs everywhere, and barely any Biden signs. That is very interesting in a city who votes blue every time.

I am totally Pro-America so that tells you who I'm voting for. There are very few signs out around here that I have seen but all three of them were Trump/Pence. LOL

Ah well Looking over there from here, And seeing what I see and hearing what I hear, It looks like only one winner and he will be blowing his own Trump for 4 more years. Personality Politics, although to be fair Trump has more than a bad personality going for him. Ive seen Biden a few times over the years and he seems nice, but bland. He isnt self selling very well. The Polls, do they ever tell the whole story, or a true story,
