Hummingbirds will be Migrating South Soon

Made another batch of nectar for the hummingbirds this morning. Probably the last one for the season. The migration will start soon as they head south. Then they will return next spring. Amazing how this process happens. I will miss seeing these tiny hummingbirds. But I know they will be back. A reminder for anyone that has feeders out, if you add a little extra sugar this time of year, it will help them with energy to get through the migration.

I recently read about their migration and the need for feeding them. I believe ours are heading your way by now.

I’m at lunch now. I’ll run over to Target and get a hummingbird feeder. (Just hope I don’t mistake one of those little things for a big fly. )

They seem to get more active this time of year just before they leave. Never ceases to amaze me that those tiny little birds can make that long, long journey.

A bit sad to see them go, but here they have already left and started their migration. There is a frost warning tonight, so its too cold for the little guys.

Pity we don't get hummingbirds in the UK. they'd make a nice addition to the bird feeder crowd!

Hummingbirds do not eat seeds, only nectar.

For some reason we have lost our hummingbird population--maybe because the new owners here won't allow any feeding posts outside the apartments and/or because they removed most of the flowering plants/bushes/trees!!

That is too bad. I wonder what happened. I would protest for feeding posts and trees.
