On land sacred to the Native Americans, we emigrants carved the faces if Washington, Jefferson, T. Roosevelt, and Lincoln, four giants of our presidency. This is on land almost sacred to all of us later comers. These presidents represent the very best of our government: Washington helped the newly founded country to become stable and continue its growth to greatness; Jefferson had written the Declaration of Independence which is a founding document for our country;Theodore Roosevelt gave all of us the gift of our National Park system and was influential in the founding our ecology system in this country; The greatest, Lincoln, was the president who put the nation back together after it was split by determination for the slave states to keep their slaves,. I took the picture from below the viewing area, near the office for the operation of carving these four presidents.
