I actually WORKED for a living yesterday!

Because I am a non-essential human, I have not worked, except for working on my book, in several months. Even the music I've been posting online to raise money for a local club--all free. But yesterday I actually worked! My music friend (shown) asked if I could use my truck and help him haul some old boards, branches, etc. to the dump. He offered me $100 for my services. I told him that it would be hard for me to take money from him, as he is my friend, but I said I'd do it for $20, lunch, and as many beers as I could consume. We had a good time and got it done in about three hours. I even got to use a chain saw (rare) and see a few black widows (also rare). Black widows like old wood piles. The sandwich was good (I had leftover sandwich for breakfast), but I was only in the mood for one beer (and lots of water). Heh. I'll make up for that next time I visit him. Could this be my next career?

@just4him Glad to hear. I know I asked you this elsewhere, but how long do you have to stay at the...whatever it is...home away from home?

Yes. I got a bit of a workout without having to go to the gym. And it was fun being productive with my friend.

@amitkokiladitya Exactly. Today, I'm going to help a friend write literature for the preschool she's starting. English is her second language, and she's not comfortable writing in English. Interestingly, she's from N. Africa, and speaks French. She helps me when I try to speak French, but sometimes she laughs at me. All in fun.

May be if you enjoy the work and can help folks, you can carry on with this. And as Prez of India, you can mentor people in India too through audio or video calls on these things!!

Can you and Vanny get me set up to give charismatic and optimistic speeches to my loyal followers in India? I get to "play" with Indian kids here at my apartment complex. It's cute. Astik is approaching 6-years-old, and the younger kids (mostly 2- and 3-years-old) hear him say "Hi, Colin!" repeatedly as he cycles by. So now all f them say "Hi, Colin" perfectly. I comment on their Ninja helmets, or whatever, and then they want to tell about what they're wearing, how they're cycling, etc.

Woohoo. That’s really sweet of you! I wouldn’t be able to take money either. But $20 (would be used toward gas) lunch + some smoothies or boba would do too.

I think you are the kind of guy who is willing and able to do a lot of things. Yep, you might " have truck will travel" and pick up a few pennies. I know for your friend it was a social event as well.

Yeppers, it was. Yesterday I helped a friend sand her walls for the painters. I didn't have to haul anything in my truck except my tool box.

Or just bored. Heh. Actually, I like "getting stuff done." And mike is a good friend, so we always have fun together. That day, we were pooped enough that we didn't bother playing music.

Personally... Friend or no friend, I would have taken the money. LOL Friends like to help their friends out, and maybe this is what he was trying to do. $100 is not much for the type of work you did. Plus...it being so hot and everything. Glad you had a good time anyway.
