Day 47 Promise 505 Luke 19:41 And when he was come near, he beheld the city, and wept over it, 42 Saying, If thou had known, even thou, at least in this thy day, the things which belong unto thy peace! But now they are hidden from thine eyes. 43 For the days shall come upon thee, that thine enemies shall cast a trench about thee, and compass thee round, and keep thee in on every side, 44 And shall lay thee even with the ground, and thy children within thee; and they shall not leave in thee one stone upon another, because thou knew not the time of thy visitation. When you are told the consequences of your actions, do you pay attention or write it off as inconsequential? For centuries, the Jewish people were told their Messiah would come. They were told how He would come, and what to look for when He came. Jesus wept over the city because nobody paid attention to the prophecies and promises surrounding His arrival. As He wept over the city, Jesus gave a prophecy and promise about what would soon take place. In 70 A.D. Titus attacked Jerusalem and destroyed the temple until not one stone was left on another. Today, the only part of the temple that remains is the western wall or Wailing Wall. As Christians, do you pay attention to what will take place? Are you waiting for the soon return of Jesus Christ for His church? You were given the signs of what to look for in His return. Jesus is coming back. You need to be ready. Do not be like the Jewish people who did not pay attention, and lost not only their city, but their temple. Let’s pray: Father, help me pay attention to the signs of the times so I will not be surprised when Your Son, Jesus, returns for His bride. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
