Music sure has changed.

Wow how music has changed, I guess there is quite a few years between, but I can help but think about how much it music has changed over my life time. Of course, I was just listening to the song “The Times They are A-Changin’” by Bob Dylan. I could not help thinking that even music has changed so much and personally I don’t think for the good. Think about this in the 60’s music was made by instruments and sung by people who had good voices. Today you get music made by computer and sung by people who are using a computer to make their voice sound good. Before we looked for people who had talent, today we look for people who look good and they will make the music sound good with computers. Someone like Bob Dylan who had talent. Writer, singer, played the guitar, harmonica, and piano just to name a few. What do we have now? Oddly enough Rolling Stone Magazine put out the top 100 song writers of all time. The top 10 were all from the 60’ and 70’s. Sitting at number 1, Bob Dylan. That was back when songs had meaning and the lyrics told a story. Not like today when we have a song like WAP by Cardi B. I can’t tell you what that stands for and I would suggest not listening to it if you are easily offended or you have children around.

Yes, it did. There are a few decent ones out there now but you really have to look hard for them.

I fully agree with you, I do not like the new songs, but I loved those of the 60's and 70's, that are those that I still play every day.

@Bensen32 The new generations seem only to appreciate those rap singers who scream their anger. This is not music.

It is not that I don´t underrstand it. It is that it is not music.Depending on my mood, I listen from classic to country to rock. But the real thing.
Lyrics: How many roads must a man walk down Before you call him a man How many seas must a white dove sail Before she sleeps in the sand How many times must ...

I second the motion. Agree with you completely. I did stop listening to radio music when the metallic rock hit the airwaves, then the Material Girl, and so on and so forth. But one day, I switched the car button and Ed Sheeran's Perfect played. I didn't know the song but it was soothing. Loved it. In fairness, there were good music, too, such as You Raised Me Up and The Prayer, and good singers that made us feel better.

@eileenleyva Yeah, pretty sure it was the 80's. Yep, looked it up cause I just had to know. Their first album released in 1983.

I am not sure about any of these except I know Metallica but that was in the 80's 90's area. They were alright for the first couple albums but then they went down hill fast once they started suiting their fans.

I have said for a while that the last DEFINABLE era in music was the 90s. We got to 2000 and it's been 20 years of what will be unmemorable. It's been 20 lost years in music. Even country has lost its way, becoming more like pop music. Maybe something will hit in 2021 and restart eras of greatness that we will talk about 100 years from now. But who knows?

Yeah, pretty much, seems like what is in this week is gone the next. There is nothing that stands out anymore.

Guess being original has gone to new heights. When rap first came out, with so much profanity, I parked my dial at 107.9 Kool Gold. https://1079koolgold.com/

@Bensen32 I think Bob has an amazing talent for writing songs, but not a fan of his singing. You're right music surely has changed over time. I don't listen to much new stuff, radio in van is set on classic rock, 60's-80's and 2 Christian stations.
