Why my posts are longer

As most people who read my posts know my posts are longer than most peoples. I do have the occasional one that is less than three paragraphs but as a whole, I am more than aware they're long. Here's the thing that many people may not believe is that in real life I am actually pretty quiet. I HATE talking. I feel like if you're going to talk you should be saying something. Not just empty words. Use your words to make a point, to bring a smile to someone else. I mean I do have days where I will talk about things that really don't matter like what I had for dinner or what the weather is like outside but as a whole, I feel like if I'm going to talk it should mean something. I'm pretty well known for my sense of humor among those that know me well but people who don't know me well just see me as quiet. I write because it's my outlet to finally get out everything I'm thinking that I don't really talk about with most people. It's a lot easier to talk to strangers about your thoughts and feelings than people you know and have to deal with on a regular basis. When I write here it's not about how many people I can get to read it or how much money I can make from it. If I wanted to make money I'd write about the weather today and ask you what the weather was like there but in all honesty, I don't care probably any more than you care about the weather here. It's not that I don't care about the details of the weather like the fires out west or people dying in accidents from snowstorms. If you'e going to talk about weather I want stories. I love reading about other people's stories not just about mundane stuff. I try to on occasion read people's posts and respond but sometimes I have a hard time. I like actual conversations. Not something like "great post" or "that sounds wonderful" those are great comments and if you're leaving them that's fine I'm not judging you but I'm saying that's not my way which is why I often don't comment on posts. If I'm going to leave a comment it's going to be because I can react to it. I don't expect everyone to read or respond to my posts either. We all have different things we enjoy reading about and writing about. I do my best to stay honest. It's not that I think people's posts are bad by any means it's just if I can't leave a true comment I'd rather not. There have been a few in the past whose stories I got really swept up in. I can't remember them anymore but I remember them being interesting. If I can relate to it then I comment. I have also dealt with people's sort of rude or condescending tone in their responses to my comments despite the fact that it was usually over something so stupid so it definitely makes me leery. I don't get the need to be so critical to strangers. If you don't agree you don't need to be a jerk about it just move on. I am sure I have come off that way from time to time too even though I may not mean to. I just felt I should explain why my posts are long and why I don't comment super frequently. I try to make my rounds from time to time but oftentimes I come here to get my thoughts off my mind. I don't like breaking my thoughts into different posts because I lose my train of thought. I know I've had countless people comment on the length and if I cared about getting money for my posts I'd make them shorter but I don't.

I am one who will read longer posts. Occasionally I make them, but mostly I just come here to socialize. It is not my business to judge how long your posts are.

I don't typically judge either. I honestly never understood the point of people pointing out how long they are because to me, if you don't want to read it don't. I think they think they're being helpful trying to tell me what will get more responses and money but I already know and don't care. I haven't changed yet and I don't plan to. I am not going to change my posts in order to make five to ten dollars a month. I am here to get stuff out of my head and maybe socialize along the way. It's always nice when I find other people who have stuff in common with me too.

We definitely won't be getting rich here, so you might as well write what you care about. I have noticed my longer posts have fewer responses, and it can be deflating. You certainly express yourself well, especially for someone so quiet.

Longer posts won't get the likes or comments shorter ones do but I think what matters is getting your thoughts out there even if no one reads them. There's something cathartic about that. Thank you, I can write my thoughts but I have a much more difficult time speaking them. I am a horrible speaker and get tongue-tied but I've always been fairly decent at expressing myself through writing.

I don't mind long discussions as long as they are interesting. I write much better than I talk. When you talk, you can't redo it or edit and change it.

I write waaaay better than I speak. Words often fail me when speaking and as you said you can change and edit the written word. This is not something I can do while speaking. Writing has always been my outlet to expressing myself in a way I can't when I speak. I feel like it's easier to be vulnerable when you write in a way that I can't quite explain.

@sissy15 Yes, it is. I know exactly how that works. I babble like an idiot but can write much better, most of the time anyway.

@akalinus Funny how that works. I don't understand why it is that way but it is.

Not as long as some of them but probably longer than most people want to read. People like two paragraphs or less. I personally prefer a longer post with context than something small that doesn't take any sort of thought process to understand but that's a personal opinion.

Hey there. Probably you are not aware of it but I am a big fan of your posts! I have seen myLotters adding discussions with 3-4 sentences ( I don't hold grudges against them) , however, I think the content should be unique and should make sense (even if it's crisp). Even a goodmorning/goodafternoon/goodevening/goodnight discussion should be unique and not just cliched like-"Hope your day went well". It should be something worth sharing like adding your musings/poetry you had thought of throughout the day. This is my personal opinion. The long and short of my boring talk is I really admire the fact that you want to" Use your words to make a point, to bring a smile to someone else." This is something I have come across for the first time!!I am deeply touched by these lines of yours. Keep going friend!!

Aww, thanks, I appreciate that. I have some posts that are just random and maybe not as significant too about some of my interests like movies or even how my day went. I'm glad you enjoy reading them. I think sometimes it's nice to really get to know people through their writing even when you don't personally know them.
