Do You Lie in Your Journal??

Does anyone have a journal that they write in everyday? I was looking back in an older journal and noticed that I had written down a "4" out of 10 for my mood... for several days in a row. When I wrote down that 4... my day never improved. It seemed to be stuck there... I then decided to try something different. Instead of the 4, (even if I was feeling horrid) I wrote down a 20 out of 20, my brain seems to believe what I wrote lol. My day slowly improved!! And it didn't happen just once... every time that I wrote down that "20" for my mood, my day got better and better!! Needless to say, that I never write in a four even if that's what my mood actually is. I wonder if any research has ever been done on lying to yourself lol??

I've read that this works. Your mind believes whatever you tell it as long as you are firm about what you 'think' and what tell it.

I really didn't expect it to work as well as it did. I wonder what 30 out of 10 will give me?? ;)

Interesting. Sort of a variation of fake it till you make it.

noperz, don't journal. aint e'en really certain how one'd put their mood 'nto numerical quantification? but, mind o'er matter. if'n ya perceive thingies to be better, e'en though nothin' else's changed, yer outlook 'tis better. i'd not call such bein' a lie, but a re-trainin' 'f yer brain to be grateful fer e'ery day. the smallest gifts 'n joys.

I only wish that I could find some of my old diaries. Unfortunately, we had a house fire in the 70s, so so much was lost :( I would loved to have read some of those entries!! Glad that you still have yours!!

I went back and changed the wording... My original 4 was out of 10... which meant that I was having a horrible day. And then I changed it to 20 out of 10... which meant that I was having an amazing day... and my brain believed it!!
