Tobaggen / cap / hat / beanie

Here's the hat that I crocheted last night.
I learned a few things while doing it.
1) I hate stitch markers, atleast the ones I have (cheap plastic). I ended up not using any stitch markers and just went by eye / following the seam / tail to figure out where my last stitch for a row should go.
2)I do prefer having a cuff on my hats, and next time I'll follow a pattern that has one.
I followed a tutorial from Bag-O-Day on youtube. It was basically rows of increasing and then back to regular single crochet. I did two more rows of increasing than her pattern suggested and I'm glad I did. The hat fits a lot better on my head.
Side note that I meant to write in my first discussion : I went to the thrift store to sell them some things again. They took everything but the 1981 cabbage patch doll. $11.00 in cash and like 0.29 in store credit.

Love the hat. Are you going to make another one with a cuff? Congrats on selling more of your "stuff".

I made just the cuff and am using it as ear warmers. I'm working on another that will end up being a hat.
Thank You.

Thank You. I bought this yarn to make leaves with, but I thought it would make a nice hat too.

When I first heard that people sit on their toboggans I was so confused! It only seems like the Southern part of the US calls the beanie / cape / toque a toboggan.1 person likes this

Thank You. I am going to do another one but with a cuff to it. I know this one will bother me if I wear it for too long.

Thank You. It's just one skein of yarn that changes colors, but I like the way it came out.

There's a youtube channel called Jadya In Stitches. She does a really good job of teaching, and her tutorials are probably the best I've seen out there.

I tried making this same style of hat on the loom and ended up messing up. I'm glad I could crochet it.

They take some stuffed toys, but I think this one was just too old.

Yes I did. Thank You. It's a color changing yarn so I can't take credit for the way the colors came out, but I love it.

@rakski It's random. I haven't measured but I think maybe a foot there's around two feet (24 inches) of one color before it starts to fade into another.

Thank You. I have two more skeins of this same color. I think I'll make another hat with the cuff that I prefer.
