The answer to that one is a resounding YES! I know that lockdowns are part of the social distancing efforts governments have put in place in an attempt to control the current coronavirus outbreak but they may be doing us more harm in the long term - mental health issues, social isolation, etc. This short movie from the BBC illustrates very well the long-term harm the lack of contact with our fellow human beings may bring.

What I am mainly missing is not being able to travel freely into the city

Glad to see you here. We missed you. Things have opened up here to the point that we can go out for the occasional meal, doctor's appointment, etc.

Thanks! It looks like local lockdowns of various badly-infected areas are going to be the norm for some time yet.

Careful, our president keeps pointing this out and our media keep making a mockery of him for it.

The media isn't short of reasons to make a mockery of your current POTUS!

This time i can't go to mall for window shopping or even in supermarket together with my mother and my niece . I'm so sad in this COVID19 pandemic because i can't go to travel in our nearby provinces :) I hope we can beat COVID19 virus in future :)

I'm sure we will but it won't be a quick fix - this thing will be with us for some time yet

Lockdowns and self-isolation have been so hard for many of us. In the city where I live, lockdowns have lessened up, luckily people outside have been taking it seriously because most of them keep social distancing and at least they wear a facemask.

My husband and I, have never been very social, this lockdown is not something we totally dislike. I am going this short movie.

I'm lucky that I have my husband for toughing, hugging, and kissing. Actually, everyone in our family has someone to love. I feel awful for those who don't.

My husband and I have been taking this pandemic very seriously since the beginning. From the first of March, we have not gone to church, or restaurants, or in-person shopping in stores. We limit our contact with other people except for our close family or friends who are also limiting their contacts. We always wear masks and practice social distancing when we go out. In this way, we have avoided feelings of isolation at the same time we protect ourselves and those we love.
