My First Pocket Money

I am just feeling young with this topic. When I was a first-grader, my parents used to give a peso as an allowance. In fact, I don't need it at that time since I bring my own snacks. They just wanted to teach me how to use the money wisely. Then, it increased to another peso yearly during my primary school days. When was the first time you hold money? Do you also have a money allowance during your primary school? Image Credit: coinsbook.net

When I was little I was given 3 cents to buy food. And in high school I wasn't given any allowance.

When I was in high school, my allowance reached to 20 or 25 pesos. It was not enough, so I still need my pack lunch.

@meowch Honestly, my parents did not have time to prepare for our pack lunches. So it is their last option for them to do at that time.

@Shavkat I’ve never asked for an allowance. Family must thought I’m so convenient.

I am sure I do not have pocket money in grade one and two. I really can't remember when did they start giving me.

I am humbly saying that I have a photographic memory in the past. Perhaps you can ask mommy and daddy. Is this possible?

@Shavkat good for you. I remember not having money because I always have food with me and my grandma or mom drop and pick me up from school so if I want something, I just need to ask them

The times I remember money is when my great grandmother used to give me a jar of nickels twice a year. I tried to save it but before I knew it , it was all spent up

I also remembered that I used empty jars in saving these coins.

yes, same as yours hahaha. But I spent it all. I just learned to be frugal when i started working because that was the only time I realized the value of money.

When I was at that time, I used to have piggy banks and save them. Then, I can spend it on a particular thing. I must admit that I became practical when started to work. However, it is more on a personal level.

That's funny days as i remember, before everything you buy is cheap,i can't recall how much they are giving me,i know only coins haha. Today if you compare ,they are lucky now, having hundred,50,20 pesos, primary student allowance in a day.A big difference

Indeed, it's a lot of difference now. The teens are quite different when asking their allowances nowadays.

At that time, I did not spend it not until my piggy bank is totally full.
