I was sick with a Coronavirus in November of 2019 but it wasn't Covid-19

Back in November of 2019, when we had company over for Thanksgiving, we enjoyed the delicious meal and all the festivities and having a good time with family and friends, but a few days later, both my wife and myself came down with an upper respiratory infection that lingered and only got worse. The flu or cold we had was a version of coronavirus, but not Covid-19. In fact, I went to talk to some people in my neighborhood at the store where we shop and the library and found out that several others had similar long lasting, for weeks, upper respiratory infections that were unusually difficult to get rid of and of course, we had to stay at home and get well, even before the announcement by the CDC and the local news media mentioned that there was a new virus from Wuhan China later on in or around February or March of 2020. Before the pandemic actually resulted in shut downs, we were still able to shop without masks and go to the hair salon to get a hair cut. But I noticed somethings different. Like, in the Kroger Lobby, there were placed for public use, containers of hand sanitizer cloths to use to wipe down our shopping carts. I wondered why these precautions? This reminded me of the local county hospitals where, for several years now, there were foam sanitizer dispensers that were all over the hospital for the public and I also noticed that Walmart had put new motion sensor faucets that when you passed your hands under them would provide running water so you did not have to touch the handle but this I thought was for preventing water waste by the customers. I soon became aware of certain people walking in retail stores, around January through February and March of 2020 wearing face masks. I asked myself, Why are these people wearing masks? Do they have some kind of contagious disease or are they hyper allergic to the air? By the time I began to search online and found out that a new Covid-19 virus was being detected in China and YouTube started uploading all kinds of documentaries of people wearing surgical masks, face shields and hospital garments and latex gloves and people behaving in a state of panic and then body bags and people falling down on the streets I became very concerned. So I did more research and by the time I realized that China was the epicenter of a new very seriously dangerous contagious virus called SARS COV-2 Coronavirus or Covid-19, and the first case of a person in Seattle, Washington was reported I started talking on social media with my friends on Facebook and YouTube and was provided all kinds of links and thus began my investigation in the new age of Covid-19 and I started a Facebook Group called All About Covid-19 (and how to survive the pandemic) Now fast forward to the present to October 11, 2020 on a Sunday I see that over 210,000 people in the USA alone have passed from complications of this new virus. And millions all over the world have tested positive for it. Now I begin to wonder if I had Covid-19. Maybe the virus hit America before March of 2020. Maybe it hit America back as far as October of 2019? Still I do not know, but when I got over the flu I had been given a vaccine back in October of 2019 and just a month later came down with an unusually strong chest infection and it took over 4 weeks to get well from it, this seemed to me as if maybe, I had got covid-19 but thought it was just the flu? My wife tested Negative for covid-19 back in July of this year. So we always wear a mask when out and we seldom go out unless absolutely necessary. Social distancing, surgical face mask and hand sanitizer. But I wonder if anyone on the planet thinks this virus is just another coronavirus like SARS or Influenza A or B or a completely different and more contagious virus that may or may not be the result of Bio engineering in a lab somewhere? Perhaps from Wuhan China? The idea is still on my mind and I have no confirmation for or against this hypothesis. They say it was just a random mutation that came from bats to humans then from human to human but what about dogs, cats, and other animals? Why don't they get covid-19?

You might have had the COVID-19. Noone knows when it started. But I refuse to accept that human beings are the cause of it all.

I agree - it wasn't made in any laboratory. People are now encroaching more and more into really wild areas of our planet and in doing so we are disturbing things best left alone - like new viruses and other diseases. This current virus won't be the last and it probably won't be the worst either. I fear for the future.

For about three or four days last month, I had a tightening in my chest that hurt and at one point for a short period of time, I had a 99.0 fever. I do take medicine for A Fib. But, the way it just happened all of a sudden, I started wondering if I had Covid 19. I also thought I may die of a stroke or heart attack. Thank goodness it subsided after a few days .

Amongst all the panic over this current virus we tend to forget that all those other viruses, diseases and conditions people suffer from are still out there! Glad you recovered

It's possible you had it. I was very ill during our mid-January ski trip - never felt like that badly before in my life. My son got sick later in January, and then my daughter, but not so much my husband. Mid-February my dad got very sick and later my mom. Turns out other relatives, husband's co-workers, his sister's co-workers - a lot of people were apparently sick with something "weird" and long lasting during that time frame. Strange. Yep - a lot of thoughts swirl in my mind too.

It could have been covid 19. I have heard that it was here earlier than they first announced.

I was sick about seven times from last August (2019) to the beginning of January. My doctor though my RA meds were keeping me open to upper respiratory infections so I was taken off. We went to Hawaii for New Years and other than a small cough I was better. Coming back, a lady from China was sitting near me coughing really bad. Very congested and had a time getting her cough under control. She had just arrived and waiting for her next plane to think she said SF. Covid wasn't a "thing" then so I figured I was near someone with a bad cold and knowing me, would get it. Little did I know...That was the 7th and by the 9th I began symptoms with chills, fever, nose running, plugging, running, and it moved on to the worse tonsillitis my doctor ever saw, throwing up blood, lace looking rash, purple splotches on my toes, loss of smell and taste and breathing was scary hard. I really thought I was going to die. Antibiotics didn't help my throat so had to be viral. About three weeks in, some symptoms let up but it wasn't until March before my throat was better. I still have issues with taste and smell. Now, my doctor said I had to have had Covid.

You might have had COVID-19. Maybe it was here earlier than anyone suspects. There was a dog that was diagnosed with COVID-19 a few months ago...so apparently it can be transmitted to animals????

Glad that you have recovered from the virus..whichever it might be. Though I feel it might have been covid 19. Well the virus is a mysterious one..A lot of theories looms around the origin and do feel that it is not a natural one and maybe a lab engineered one. Also the rate of mutation and changing forms so quickly makes it even more mysterious. We just hope whatever it is. it gets controlled soon. Till then masks. social distancing and sanitizers are the way to go.
