Nightmares have woken me up from a sound sleep especially when they seem so real. I tell myself that it’s only a nightmare and go back to sleep. Some do leave me shaken the next day or so.

@jefferson126 I agree. Quite often, the strange feeling stays with us longer than the memory of the dream. It’s horrible.

@DianneN ,yes,in case it happened,we'd better do something relax emotion, such as listening music, watching funny movie, and so forth.

if they seem too real,it will leave me scared next day, then i have to force myself to calm, and will recover after a few days.after all, that was just a dream,we will forget it as time went by.

For sometime it may affect your sleep but in time it should fade away and you should be experiencing normal sleeping patterns again. I think you just need to slowly let go of that feat again since those usually are the figment of your imagination that went haywire something in your mind.

@jefferson126 That is good since we sometimes have dreams that are recurring everytime. But that is rare to happen.

Whether or not we consciously recall nightmares upon waking, they do affect you physically. It might be a good idea to think about what might be happening in your life, that might trigger it. Knowing what might have caused it, can help prevent future ones so you can get a restful night's sleep.

@jefferson126 sometimes the root cause isn't something obvious. Hence why I asked. Even something stressing you out (that you might not be aware is a stressed) could cause them.

I once think of the root caused the nightmare, but sometime, there were not any unpleasant or terrible thing happened on daytime, still had nighmare at night,so i give up seeking root, eventually,i will forget it after a few days.

It is better to relax and rest before sleeping so that no nightmare will happen.
