How corny

So Olney had their annual squirrel-corn giveaway today. Folks from far and wide...okay, from one side of town to the other...gathered at the city park at 9:30 this morning to get free corn ears to put out for skwirl feed. Well, okay, I got there about 9:10 and figured I'd get to the front of the line...I ended up being about car #30...and there were another 50-60 lined up behind me. I got a feeling some people will go home empty handed. But I got a big ol' mess of ears for them to feast on, both plastic totes and the 50 pound gunny sack full of ears. Guess I need to be careful what I talk about in that room now.

I wonder how many people use them as human food!

You might use it to grow next year, but this corn is hard, even boiling ain't much fit for human consumption

Do you have to put out a racist sign, “white Skwirls only”? Or can all skwirls enjoy it?

@myklj999 i feel ya, the last year i 'twas able to get hay out'ta the field there 'twas long lines waitin' from 'bout 3'n the morn. waitin' fer hay to be't the correct moisture content fer balin'. i waited my 'turn' ('twas a bad year, folks from's far 'way's california here with semi's...) fer hours. the field ran out 'bout 15 trucks 'head 'f me. e'en though the farmer'd stipulated how many bales one could get (50 max), the semi's 'n big trailers took 't all. leavin' 's lil folks with no 20-man crews high'n dry.

Those squirrels and raccoons are lucky, you got a lot of corn, that is good.

Now I am wondering, are you a cat lover or a squirrel lover? How is higher on your list these days?
