It was on Fire

I was in the laundromat and kept smelling smoke. As I was coming out, I saw the giant thing that people use to throw away cigarette butts. Smoke was pouring out. I flagged down a park worker who was mowing and told him that it's on fire. He took the top off the thing and doused the flames. He told me that someone had put a lot of paper in there. I don't know why people would do that. Do people do stupid things where you live? I would love to hear your story.

OH yes, people can be so idiotic! One that I don't understand, is throwing trash on the ground, near a garbage can!

@marlina Yes, there is a big dumpster a few yards from the laundry. It would be so easy to use it. There is also a trash can in the laundry.

Yes, people do this all the time. Look at the forest fires in CA, OR, and WA. Sounds like someone used this for a garbage can instead of putting out a cig. Just an accident waiting to happen!

Yeah, people do stuff like that a lot. But, I can't help thinking that some of those fires were arson. I know they arrested some people for that.

I know that is true. I have heard of a lot of stuff going on in New Mexico. I used to live there and I think it has gotten worse.
