Was glad to hear that Charley Pride, age 86, will receive CMA's Lifetime Achievement Award to be presented at the CMA (country music association) awards show in Nashville on November 11th of this year.
"Kiss an Angel Good Morning" was one of his biggest hits.
He will be the first black artist to receive this award. He has had many hits since the 1970's. This award is well deserved in my opinion.

@CarolDM Indeed, and I do not disagree. I just think sometimes a lot of these "awards" are more token than anything. I am sure in his life his fans, and their adoration mean more to him and meant more to him that a simple plaque or honoring.
The token seals the deal, such as does a Medal of Honor or Purple Heart. But the real personal pride comes from what the person did to be recognized in the first place.

Did you know he was a baseball star in the Negro League before he started singing?
