Today we had plans to go for our weekend drive through the countryside, but my husband never mentioned which countryside.
I knew something was fishy when he got on the highway and all he did was laugh. Real men don’t giggle.
We wound up ay our older son’s new house a bit less than 2 hours away. My son was in cahoots with my husband. We all wore masks and walked around the property social distancing. It was a lovely warm day in New Jersey.
It was so wonderful seeing everyone for an hour or so. I wanted to see every room, but we only used the powder room before heading home. What I did peek at was so beautiful.
I had house warming gifts to bring if my husband had only told me.
I’m am exhausted from this unexpected day, so will see you on my tomorrow tomorrow.
~Photo is of the front of the house and look at that driveway!~

@LadyDuck Yes, seeing them was the best thing ever!!!! My DIL told me they still had lots of unpacking and organizing to do upstairs, and my son sent us photos of the downstairs. The have a front living room and a back living room and a family room. AND barely any furniture to fill it!

I can't believe you drove all that way to only spend an hour there! But an hour with family is better than no time at all. Maybe next time you'll get a chance to get a tour of the entire interior of the house. It looks gorgeous from the outside, so I imagine it will look great on the inside too!

@DianneN I totally understand, based on the current situation with COVID. And I would feel bad too if you ended up getting the coronavirus. Definitely better to be safe than sorry.
I feel like I am still having lingering effects from when I had it back in March. I still have trouble breathing, it just feels like my lungs aren't getting enough oxygen. Kind of a weird feeling, but so far hasn't stopped me from being able to live my normal life.

@moffittjc I'm sorry you are experiencing that, Jeff. Perhaps leading your normal life and doing your regular active sports and lifestyle will help improve your breathing and lung capacity over time.

We would have spent that amount of time driving through CT, so it wasn't too bad. We wouldn't go for a tour due to fears of getting Co-19. They are very careful, but out and about a lot with the kids' sports. I was lucky enough to get a quick peek on my way to the powder room, which I shouldn't have used, but it sure beats a public restroom. Our younger son visits us several times a week and still hasn't set foot inside our house since we've been home in May. He is out and about with his girlfriend an awful lot, and told us he would never forgive himself if anything ever happened to us because of him. Now that's love!

@lovebuglena My son hired lawn people, a snow plow service, a house cleaning service, and will need to find someone to open the pool and care for it when it gets warm out. He's too busy with work and the kids sports to do it himself and my DIL is in charge of the loads of laundry and everything else.

@HannahKusKus I hope you have a surprise like that. Unfortunately, I didn't get to see too much of the inside. My son told me they have a front living room and a back living room.

@HannahKusKus I hope so. My son doesn't have time to do it himself due to running around to ice hockey games with my grandson and all his online work.

@DianneN oh.. but, maybe it is the best choice for hiring gardener. He help your son well, and the result is satisfying. He must be an expert gardener

@Babale Those are vertical cedar (wood) shakes as they are called with stone work. My house originally had those, but we changed it to horizontal wood after a while. He may do that, too, if he decides to live there for many years. You are right. Many American homes now use that horizontal siding on their homes.
What do they use on homes in Indonesia?
