25 'If you take someone's cloak in pledge, you will return it to him at sunset.
26 It is all the covering he has; it is the cloak he wraps his body in; what else will he sleep in? If he appeals to me, I shall listen. At least with me he will find compassion!
The verses are from Exodus 22. Very strong and forewarning.
It has been seen through centuries, this practice of usury. The money lenders take advantage of the poor who borrow money for food. They give their cloak as collateral, though they know they will not be able to retrieve it.
But the warning has been cast. The lender must give the cloak back at day's end.

Some people could take advice from this in this day and age.

This day and age the rich are obsessed with more wealth, fame, and power. A few claim engaging in philanthropy yet the ratio of rich and poor have become ever more disproportionate.
Thank you for responding. I do believe you understand the plight of the impoverished.

@eileenleyva Yes, exactly! The rich get richer and the poor get poorer! It's disgusting!

@sharonelton The rich has become callous - numb to the suffering of the poor.
Perhaps it is the necessary evil. What do you think?
