Howdy, folks! I'm dribblin' this whilst lookin' out 'pon a sea 'f white. This Billy fella (aka: winter storm) 'tis been a most 'npleasant guest 'n I sure wish he'd cut his visit short. Nope, he's brought ice, high winds, sleet, freezin' fog, teensy snowflakes 'n frozen water. Not jest the pond. The water to the house's been frozen since Sunday night. I've 'bout run out'ta my jugs 'f water I'd drawn prior. 'bout 30 minutes 'go, the National Weather Service 'nnounced we're now 'nder a Blizzard Warnin' 'til midnight. Seems good ol' Mr. Billy aint leavin' 'fter all, 'twas 'pposed to be catchin' the winds elsewhere today by 6pm. How do ya make 'nwelcomed guests leave when they've dug their heels'n?

thanks, hon. 'd to cancel my doc's 'ppointment fer tomorrow (takes 3-6 months to get one), but they called me back'n said we could do such o'er the phone. doin' my best. noperz, nary a thingy anyone can do. the hubs refuses to thaw the water line 'n i lack the ability (hands, these danged hands) to do such myself. can't hold a torch without worry'f catchin' somethin' afire. sigh... 've buckets set out to catch snowflakes. 't least i can melt such fer water'n the house.

@CarolDM jest's well 'tis o'er the phone. he's not gonna like what i've to say 'n he'll no doubt say the same's 'lways. i'd get me a new'un if'n i could. sadly he'd be my 'nly choice 'nless i wish to travel 525 miles round trip... no worries, jest needed to vent a bit 'bout our great fortune. 'tis great, the moisture much needed. could jest do without the winds. water'd be nice'n the house, too.

OH no! You will want to smack me when I say we turned the AC on this afternoon!! It was hot and humid and with chances of electricity going out with Zeta moving in we decided to cool the house off prior to landfall. No problems here and only light rain and drizzle here. The wind didn't even get too bad so hoping not many new limbs down. I hope you get some warmer temps and thaw out in the next couple of days.

@crazyhorseladycx Yes, that cold front pushed Zeta eastward which kept my area clear but the Gulf Coast of MS got hit very hard. Got to check on my cousin that lives there. That is the only family in that area.

'pposed to be'n the low 40's today, 60's this weekend. the 'nly folks i wish to smack's those who longed fer cooler temps 'n the joys 'f autumn.... oh wait, that'd be you! ;)

Oh man that looks so pretty but I hate the cold and you not having running water is awful. We are supposed to get snow tomorrow I believe. Yikes I hope the blizzard misses you as snow is bad enough but a blizzard is way worse.

@crazyhorseladycx oh thats great news that it’s not frozen but yes sounds like he needs to spend the money on a surge protector so it won’t happen again.

yes ma'am 'twas purty to see. not so purty to be out'n. the hubs finally figured out such 'twas not frozen 'fter all. his drunken stupor saturday caused him to mis-wire the new switch. we'd a power outage the day prior 'n such 'lways fries that switch. a smart fella'd spend the $200 fer a surge protector fer such, don't'cha reckon? anyhow, 'd water 'bout 4pm. no blizzard. tiny flakes. high winds'n quite a bit 'f rain 'fter dark. hopin' this 'tis out'ta here by morn.

When I saw your comment yesterday (sorry I haven't gotten back to ya yet . . . you know me - I will eventually!!!) about the winter scene, my jaw just dropped. I knew it was getting colder, but I wasn't thinking snow and ice quite yet. Can't believe it. But your pic is definitely evidence of it ! The winds stopped here and now we're warming up again - going to 90 for the weekend apparently. So crazy different.

@crazyhorseladycx I wish you could come out here! We will probably be in the 90s for a week, they say. It was quite warm here today - so hard to believe reading about all this rain and ice and such in other places. The winds have stopped here - maybe a slight breeze at best. I really hate wind and can only imagine how the ponies must feel. Frozen solid that the cats can walk on it . That is some serious cold out there ! Enjoy the beautiful sunset!!

with the winds, we've not been warmer'n 18 degrees since monday. can i come fer a visit? 'tis to be 62 here i think this weekend. thankfully the blizzard 'twas not to be. tried, but flakes too tiny. rained sideways fer a few hours 'fter dark - fueled by 32mph sustained winds, gustin' to 40. gonna be'n awful mess come daylight. ponies 're none too happy with all 'this'. the pond 'twas frozen near solid. the cats'd jest walk 'cross 't like a sidewalk. 'twas ne'er so proud to see the sun late 'fternoon. gorgeous sunset, but no time to snap a pic 'f such a wonder.

@much2say 'd sure love to. e'en if'n i'd the funds fer such a trip, such 'tis ferbidden. that travelin' 'cross state lines. 2 week self-quarantine per state, 2 weeks once i got there, etc. be glad 'f yer lovely temps. jest think fondly 'f those who're freezin' 's beads 'f sweat drip from yer brow :) so glad yer winds stopped. we've 'd issues with such since january... e'en worse when such's frigid air. the pond thawed today'n one'f the grey tabbies went 'fter a bird'n a branch'n took a very cold bath. 'twas a beaut, though jest lastin' for a few minutes.

must'a been lots 'f folks sendin' positive 'nergy coz the blizzard ne'er happened. winds howled, poured rain fer a few hours. gusts to 40mph, sustained 't 32. windchill factor 'f 3. ought'a be quite the skatin' rink outdoors come daylight. horses 're not 'mpressed. i dunno if'n such's gonna make't to yer neck 'f the woods?? heard that mr. billy 'tis to meet'p with that zeta gal 'n dump tons 'f snow 'long the coast.

Some you have to be blunt with and tell them to leave. I will pray for your area but you can claim that it be gone too with a mustard seeds worth of believing. Otherwise, find all yer blankets and candles just in case. Not sure about the water though. Can you put a small, clean bucket outside and melt some snow for water that way in a pinch?

such left, the blizzard predicted not to come to fruition. 'tis a completely diff'rent day today. a high 'f 52 with massive sunshine. i did put out clean buckets to capture snow/ice/rains, e'en meltin' icicles. such came'n handy fer toilet flushin'. i'm thrifty that way :)

lol, he left to bother other parts'f the country thankfully. the moisture 'twas greatly needed though. we've been'n severe drought all year, hopin' this bit we got helps put a dent'n that. too late fer the grasslands, but the dryland farmers 're mighty happy.

'twas surprised not too much mud out with the horses. such dried off purty quickly. saved me from havin' to move panels 'n put'em all'n higher grounds. 'f course, they all rolled'n such. mr. whiskey 'twas sportin' mud balls hangin' from his mane. i told him he better be glad ya didn't see such ;)
