It was a sad night last night when the family of author Rachel Caine, had to make a statement on her passing. Her full name is Roxanne Conrad, Rachel Caine was just her pen name and she was very successful with it. Roxanne had a rare and aggressive cancer called soft tissue sarcoma and had been fighting it for quite a while. Honestly thinking back, I can't remember when her family had started tweeting for her on twitter and giving updates on her health and spirits. There will not be an in person memorial service but the family is arranging a virtual one that they will be giving more details on soon. Instead of flowers, they're asking for donations to Science Fiction and Fantasy Writers of American Emergency Medical Fund or the Dallas-based Mary Crowley Cancer Research Center. Rachel Caine has written 8 series and one stand alone novel. Best known for her Morganville Vampire series as well as her Stillhouse Lake novels. I received the news last night from my favorite author and person, Carrie Ann Ryan. The writer world and reader world is grieving the loss of an amazing person today.
