stressful afternoon

I got so stressed with tutors who couldn't commit to the agreed time. One of them did not tutor today and it was supposed to be her first day of work, the reason was there was a fire in the neighborhood. But when she showed me the picture it was just a small fire from the neighboring community. I called several tutors who could substitute her and it was after an hour before I found one. Sigh. I had been a tutor for 13 years but I only absented twice a year.

@Janet357 it is disappointing but that is reality. Some people thought that they can just do that

I just don't like when someone asks for a job and when you give them one, they just take it for granted.

I had experienced this before and it was not easy. The good thing is my company provided the booking system for having classes online.

@Janet357 As of today, I am fully booked. The good thing is most of them are my loyal good students.

There are a lot of people like that. Irresponsible, insensitive and ignorant. I am sorry that you have to deal with one of them.

true. they will go to work anytime they want but you can't force them to teach when they are much needed.

@Cheyee And that teacher gets paid. So many people nowadays have no job yet this teacher takes her job for granted.

@Janet357 since March my daughter studies at home. Teachers will give the assignment through whatsapp. My daughter will send the picture of the assignment also through WhatsApp. One teacher keep ghosting her. Never reply the message, read it whenever she wants. So frustrating. I just don't want the teacher thinks my kid doesn't do her assignment. I don't think reply it would take a lot of time.

Well, we can't expect everyone to be like us and work like us. At least you managed to find a substitute for her. It's a good thing. Hopefully the other one would be better.

she is more dedicated. she is a mom already. sometimes I think that tutors with family value their jobs more than those who are single.

Hmm... Thankfully, I haven't experienced a fire ever in my life. I hope I never do... But I expect a fire could be very unpredictable. A 'small fire from the neighboring community' could probably easily spread if the neighborhood is crowded, has structures made of light materials, or if it's windy. So I expect they were all probably stressed out and scared, too. So sorry you were affected in turn because of what that tutor experienced today. Other days will be better than today.

My husband has a neighboring office has neigboring offices too. But not very close. Maybe one kilometer away. And one of them was burned. My husband continued his work. There were firemen coming anyway. I think the tutor just made it as an excuse.

I can imagine the stress you were under to find a last minute replacement for her. Sorry you had to go through all that.

I have been experiencing it for years Miss D. Thank you. In business, it is hard to deal with your staff.
