Trail Cam Pictures: Critter #3

Now I have to say that this little critter was a total surprise! A cat. Not our cat, we don't have a cat. The last two cats here were when I kept one of my daughter's cats for a while and the one that ran off was not a solid gray cat. I don't even know of anyone that lives the closest to me that has a gray cat. So this little darling is a complete mystery. It looks like he/she enjoys sharpening her claws on the railroad tie. I hope you are enjoying the photos we are catching on the trail camera. © 2020 Karen Gros, All rights reserved

This kitten looks cute, I wonder if someone dumped the kitty or he is just exploring the area.

I don't know!! I hope she wasn't dumped. A kitten was the first rescue when we moved here. She was up high in a tree and meowed so much hubby got a ladder and got her down. After that the other cats around started visiting and we ended up with about 20 cats here. I finally got rid of them all as they were scratching the paint up on our cars. There were several neighbors looking for barn cats! I guess so--they were all at our house!

@LadyDuck I haven't ever seen her in real time. She may not be tame either.

@kareng I hope she was not dumped, you can ask around if someone lost a cat, if not see if she can find a new family.

Cats tend to venture quite far from home. The cat is either a stray or just exploring.

It does't look like a wild cat. One of the neighbors down the road about two miles away has a cat that comes down here. I've seen it in the woods behind my house a couple of times.

If the cat has a home she will return to it eventually!

I'm thinking the same. She has never been seen here before so I'm thinking she was just out on an adventure!

Maybe someone dumped the cat. Will you try to tame it? Leave food out for it or whatever?

We have never seen it before in the daylight. And no on the food. There is a dog food feeder on back porch if it really needed food.

Actually it looks a lot like the cat my girls had for a pet long ago. She was a pretty gray and was rescued where my hubby was working. They called her Meow because she meowed ALL the time. The name stuck. lol

@kareng Possibly a descendant of hers that is wild. As long as she dont bother anything she might help control mice for you.

It could be. I have seen a couple wild ones in the woods. Makes you wonder how they survive with all the coyotees around here.

Cats can roam a very wide territory, so it's hard to say where that one came from. It could be someone's house cat, or it could be a feral cat. Either way, it looks to be in good, healthy shape.

Have you ever try to hold him/ her? Normally wild/ stray animals would run. If him/ her doesn't run, she/ he has an owner.
