Noah's Ark and Lot's Firestorm.

My countrymen are just starting to pick up the pieces, trying to salvage what they can from the deluge yesterday. I was prodding friends to extend help via monetary donations through Caritas Manila, while my daughter was busy connecting and checking for the rescuers and the victims. It was a day of reckoning.
The Gospel today is fitting. Our Lord likened the days before the Son of Man will be revealed to the days before Noah was shut in the Ark, and before Lot turned his back at the firestorm, there was eating and drinking, buying and selling, building and planning.
At a time of pandemic, people still insist on feasting and merry making. Facebook posts still show food and wine, fashion, politics, false dreams and selfish desires.
Our Lord gave a warning, 'Anyone who tries to preserve his life will lose it; and anyone who loses it will keep it safe.'
That is why I was urging friends to give all they can, for only in our selflessness can miracles begin to happen, like the multiplication of bread and fish, for a boy was willing to share his meagre meal, and five thousand men were fed, excluding women and children.
We can make it happen, too. Remember, we cannot hold in our hands all our possessions but we can keep in our hearts all the love we can give.

A pleasure to share.
Yes, disasters are our Creator's way of reprimanding us. Life is so precious to waste it on useless activities.
