My husband and I work long hours, even in the middle of the pandemic our working hours did not ease up a bit. As a matter of fact, we end up even working longer hours before this craziness started. Don't get me wrong, I am grateful and thankful that we still have jobs in this challenging time. I have friends whose hours are reduced, or worse, got furloughed. We are getting to a point when we start to see signs of a work burn out. And so we decided to take a vacation surrounding Thanksgiving. And yesterday, I received a notice that my boss approved my vacation from November 15 - November 30. There were no questions asked - he knows that this is something that I really need and he even told me to have fun and take extra precaution if we plan to travel. Our close friend who is a nurse gave us a couple of pairs of N95 masks when she found out that we are planning to go on a trip. But to be sure that we can minimize our crowd exposure, we will be driving instead of flying. We will continue to boost our immune system with vitamins, and still try our best to avoid being in crowds. I know we only have a few days left to prepare, but we will sit down sometime tonight or tomorrow to plan our drive and reach out to some relatives who we can probably visit over Thanksgiving.

Well done on getting your boss to say you can go on a vacation. It is excellent you have N95 masks as these are the safest ones you can get. I hope that you will have a really lovely time.

Thank you, and yes we are going to do everything we can to be safe. We are researching the places to see what's their CDC warning looking like. Good thing my husband and I are both more intent on hiking and visiting national parks than being in enclosed places, like bars.

@Raine38 Visiting national parks and hiking in them is an excellent idea. Yes do avoid going to enclosed spaces like bars. You need to think how you will get food and drinks.

That's awesome! That's true, it's not that we're not thankful but feeling tired of working endlessly can't be help as well. After all, we're only human. Enjoy your vacation! It's best to able to recharge!

Thank you, and I am so excited. I think the key is to balance work and personal life. But I have to admit that with this pandemic, it is hard to strive that kind of balance.
