Will there ever come a time where our minds will not mind playing second fiddle?

Our mind has been described sometimes in many derogatory ways, as crazy, addictive, compared to being like a monkey, of no real substance, etc. etc., and that we should drop it, or let go of it, altogether. Of what is the real use to us of our minds then? The emptiness that we want does not come from a full mind, nor from an empty mind either; it comes only from an accepted mind, so we should stop trying to rid our self of our mind, and just let it be. Our mind is a tool, or an instrument of our higher self or soul, but is there, or will there ever be, a time in our lives, where our mind is no longer necessary, and we directly connect to our soul, bypassing our mind altogether? Our mind is part of our body-mind equation, and it is used by us in various ways, including unconsciously, and as a storage mechanism for us too, so it will always be around while we are alive, but we will learn to place the direct connection to our soul, or to our higher self, first, rather than our placing our mind's connection first, which will then just fall back into the background of our direct knowing. "Do not dwell in the past, do not dream of the future, concentrate the mind on the present moment." The Buddha, 563 BC to 483 BC) was quoted as having saying this. But, should we really try to concentrate our minds at all? Yes, this quote implies, that we are not our minds. We are the ones concentrating, or using our minds. When we stay in the present moment, we better connect to our soul, or higher self, which always lives in this present moment too. So, if we connect the donkey to the cart, we will then find that we are the ones sitting on the seat of this cart, leading, or in control of the donkey, too. Our mind can reach above the clouds, but to stay there, we must accept that that is our natural position, anyway, as our higher self, or soul. it is an interesting position to consider. yes, there comes a time, but will we realize the time is here?

Without using our mind to realise it, would it matter, or not? Apparently, a realised person recognises another realised person, somehow, with their higher self seeing this. Maybe when we finally take this step, it is a step past mere realisation, into real knowing. We are not using our mind, but using our higher knowledge directly instead.

@DocAndersen Does it matter if we are ever ready? Are we always ready? Where does readiness come from, or go to then? Why is there any form of progression through consciousness levels, anyway? I might answer that the emptiness of God fills into you, via conscious recognition of truth, which fills itself from love, and so gains itself, from its emptiness, into a sort of completiveness in the vehicle, holding the consciousness, all for the sake of the oneness being itself in infinite ways of itself.

@innertalks the concept of mind extends beyond what is thought. So, in essence, will we be ready when the time comes to raise our consciousness to the next level?

My mind often takes me on long journeys to the past and then I just as quickly bring myself back to the present but happy for the memories that came to me

Yes, our minds are very useful to us, at times, and a bugbear, at other times. What prompted this article was my reading what this spiritual guru said, in an email, that I received recently. "Let go of your crazy hurried busy mind." Jafree Ozwald

We are supposed to be preoccupied with the physical body, mind and inner knowing/conscience/soul. To rise in consciousness, we are supposed to get our priorities right - have the soul give us the direction, control the mind and the body which is just a physical casing to survive the elements here. I feel we need a fine balance of all the three and not put down body and mind with a thud, shoo them away as also-rans, usurpers even. They all have a role to play. I try to keep my inner voice in play all the time even as I go about life here. Some psychics are supposed to suppress their minds in their pursuit of higher consciousness and are able to talk about their rarefied experiences therefrom. Personally, I believe in freedom of god-given faculties and attributes without hindering their free play.

@Shiva49 “No amount of prayer or meditation can do what helping others can do.” Meher Baba, said this one. Prayer, meditation, reading scriptures, all of this stuff, though good to do, must take a back seat to loving others directly. There is no point reading a Holy Book, when others need our practical help right now. Helping others breaks barriers.

@innertalks Yes, we try our best to merge the outer and the inner to find meaning in our lives. I try to break the imaginary barriers all the time. Vivekananda said- "How difficult it is to look through each other’s eyes, and that is the bane of humanity. That is the basis of hatred and jealousy, of quarrel and of fight." We need to keep in mind empathy and oneness of humanity in our thoughts and actions. Such an approach help to find peace and a common journey without imaginary divisions. The Buddha said all theoretical knowledge is of little use unless we put them into practice. My take is whatever floats our boats to find balance should help us stay focused. We have a restless mind for a purpose too but it can also be channeled to the right path to soothe all our parts instead of each working at cross purposes.

@innertalks Yes, "the hands that serve are holier than the lips that pray" comes to mind. I found some highlighting rightly the yeoman work of health personnel in the present crisis. Boris Johnson paid rich tributes too to the two who kept watch and tab on his condition which he said could have gone the other way. In a way, he owed his life to them and others who made the right call and worked ceaselessly putting their own lives in danger. The leadership plays a crucial part too; no point turning a blind eye to harsh reality. The statistics from The US point out things are out of control. Another quote comes to mind then " Nero fiddled while Rome burned".
