I wish I had thought to make cornbread last night. Oh well, we will have soup, and cornbread for lunch when I can persuade hubby.
I cheated, and ate a piece of cornbread fresh out of the oven with wonderful butter.
Now it is time to entice the husband.

Do you use a lot of corn in your country? Corn bread is made with corn meal and I also include some wheat flour. There is corn starch or corn flour, but I seldom use it for baking. It would not make good bread on its own. Do you eat many grain foods?

@shaggin For some people it is a texture problem. I like my own corn bread better than any body else's.

I tried to take a picture and it will not upload from the camera. It was delicious. Cornbread is something I will over do on.

@thelme55 You use corn meal. I only use corn flour for making sauces, and sometimes added to breading for crispiness. I use about 2 parts corn meal and 1 part wheat flour.

@GardenGerty I have not baked a cornbread, yet. Did you use corn flour for baking?

How it tastes in part depends on how it is made. Some people put creamed corn or whole corn in it, then it tastes more like corn. People who live in the south of my country put much more sugar in, and then it tastes sweet, like a dense pastry. Other people put chopped hot peppers in it or cheese for a savory flavor. What kinds of breads do you make?

@GardenGerty i think i would like more like corn taste. I can't eat if the bread is to sweet (macaroon is crazy sweet). Normally i just buy it. I bake brownies only. Because that's my family's favorite

Sometimes we cannot wait for something so have to try it out when it comes out of the oven. I hope you enjoyed it.

In the old days, when there was no company visiting to cook for, my mother's father would just crumble cornbread into buttermilk for an evening meal, especially in hot weather.
