I never leave with empty hands

My sister was in an abusive relationship for many years. She was not allowed to celebrate and buy gifts, etc. Her ex was crazy and mean. Yet she gave me something every time I visited her. Even if it was a hat she had gotten for the sun and decided it was a better fit for me.
She still is much that way. She is finding herself with an overwhelming (to her) amount of food. Some she is given, some she has bought and gotten tired of.
I went to visit with her today. I came back with two whole uncooked chickens, plus chicken and rice she had cooked, plus fried chicken breasts she had purchased and gotten tired of. And a large bag of some ready cooked beef fajita meat. (It is too spicy for her.)
She says it helps her out if I come and help her organize her canned goods, etc. She likes me to help her make space in her freezer.
She has always been very generous. In later years she crocheted a lot for others. Now she cannot see well enough, and her hands hurt.
I never really know what is in store when I go to just visit a bit with her.
I think Bob and I will have roast chicken for our Thanksgiving alone meal.

She tries to hide it under a bit of a rough exterior, but she is.

Maybe she find joy when she gives. I hope she find something to busy and entertain herself with now that she cannot crochet.

@GardenGerty That sounds like a fun activity. I observed that kind hearted people are repaid in whatever form.

She will tell you that she still loves him, but could never live with him again. It has been years since they split.

Your sister sounds like a very special person and the horrible relationship she was in did not bring her down it sounds like.

It takes about an hour to reach her house. 55 miles. Yes, people give her much more than she needs at times, and she knows it will not go to waste if she gives it to me.
