Today is Pie Day

Kasey is in charge of a pie fundraiser for Jack's School. She and John did it for years. Last year I went with her to organize and I am going again today. Hundreds of pies have to be counted and then put with the right order. Usually, I would be going to exercise this afternoon but when Kasey needs my help that takes priority. Tomorrow I will do the one day of teaching with Jack this week I think. Other than that I have lots of articles to write and housework to do but no cooking for Thanksgiving. We ordered our dinner from Whole Foods and Kasey will pick it up on Wednesday. She is doing breakfast on THanksgiving with her mother in law and then we will come over. I might see if she wants me to come early to get everything ready while she is still at breakfast.

A local orchard makes these frozen pies.. A list goes home and the kids sell to friends and family, We get 30% profit. The pies arrive frozen and we were using the order forms to put the order together. One of them was 44 pies. The pies come 4 or 6 to a box all the same flavor and we have to put the orders together in boxes or bags, It was a lot of work.

@BelleStarr Gosh that does sound like a lot of work, but at least you don't have to make the pies I guess! Little One's school sometimes has fund-raising cake sales (not at the moment of course), but we are asked to make cakes and then they set up a stall after school and sell to the children and parents. The first time, we made fairy cakes and painstakingly decorated them with little animal faces. Then we found that they sold them for 10p each - less than it cost to make them! We could have just donated the cost of the ingredients and had an early night instead of staying up baking! Of course you are also expected to buy some, so you can either buy your own cakes back again, or buy someone else's and risk finding that they are not very nice!

That's great you helped her with the fundraiser. I've been thinking about ordering Thanksgiving dinner since it will only be me this year. I don't know yet.
