Does it bother you when sales websites deceive you?

As you know, my sweat smells like ambrosia and nectar. My natural pheromones have the ability to attract all living things to hug me, including women, children, and Western fence lizards.
But occasionally I enhance my incredible aromas with Bvlgari, a cologne available at many department stores and on many websites.
Today, I got an offer of FREE SHIPPING (regardless of price) plus a discounted cost for Bvulgari on a certain cologne website. I decided to go for it.
But when I went to checkout, the "discount code" didn't work at first. I was being charged a high price.
After about 10 minutes of "noodling," I was able to enter the discount code. But then there was a shipping cost of something like $7.00.
I am able to afford $7.00. It is 7/100 of what I will charge for the pair of speakers I am currently restoring (a hobby that makes me money!).
But I refuse to patronize a website that knowingly deceives me to try and make a few extra bucks. Have you had similar experiences?

Yes, I have. And I was annoyed yesterday when I ordered something and they didn't give the postage cost until right at the very end. I could still have pulled out I guess but the cost was reasonable so I went ahead with the order.

I think if some seller is trying to suck you in by randomly sending you 'special offers' I wold be suspicious anyway.
Normally I check the postage costs before I decide whether to consider ordering anything, but in some cases of course this cost might not become apparent until the checkout, because the cost is based on the size or weight of what you order.

I have. I try to cross-check, to make sure I'm getting the discounts I deserve. I don't like paying for things I don't need to. Even if I can afford it. I feel if I'm being offered a discount, I deserve that discount, no excuses.

@TheHorse I know what you mean. For example, Petco gives a discount for in-person pickup orders, which is great.... but the tax is higher than the discount so I don't end up saving as much. but, then every 100 points I get five off, so when I combine the two, well.... then I actually save a few bucks.

@kaylachan But it's more complicated than they initially make it seem. That ticks me off.

@wolfgirl569 I order some clothes from LL Bean. I've trusted them for years. I believe I get free shipping on all orders when I use my LL Bean VISA card. Not an issue because I pay all of my cards off every month.

@TheHorse oh yes, I even experience that at the mall when they are having a 3-day sale and all the yellow tags have 50% discount from the original price. I bought one knowing I really but it very cheap, lo and behold when I saw the original tag under the yellow tag sticker, it has the same price.

@rakski Here the shop can't claim an item is discounted unless they have offered it for sale at the higher price for a certain period of time first. However the higher price could have been in a different place (such as online, or in another branch)

I am sure I have, so I tend to stick with known quantities.

I don't order things online because of the shipping costs.

@TheHorse Last month I sent a very angry email to Ikea. I did not want to go to their store (it's all the time crowded), I tried to order online. For an order of $54, they proposed an express delivery (no other options) at $75....???

It was a glitch on their site, but no other customers informed them of the problem, I wonder how many sales they have lost.

Yes...and the shipping cost is usually much higher than it actually is. Have a blessed, safe and healthy Thanksgiving. Love the little lizard.
