In 1963 The Beatles released "I Want to Hold Your Hand" it is amazing to note that this was the first time in the UK that advanced order of the song passed the million mark before it was even released. When The Rolling Stones were on their North American Tour in 1965 the Governor of Colorado John A. Love declared a Rolling Stones day all through the state. They appeared at the Denver Coliseum in Colorado. In 1969 The Beatles release of "Come Together/Something" rose to number one on the US singles chart and became the group's 18th number one hit in the US. "'\Something" was The Beatles first song written by George Harrison to be on the A-side. In 1980 ABBA had their ninth and last number one UK single "Super Trooper. It was the group's 25th Top 40 hit in the UK. The song referred to the gigantic spotlights used during stadium concerts. In 1980 John Lennon and Yoko Ono released their album Double Fantasy. After the death of Lennon, the album became a worldwide commercial success. At the Grammy Awards in 1981, it won for Album of the Year. In 1987 the song "Perfect Day" performed by such artists as Elton John, Bono, David Bowie and others rose to number one on the UK singles chart. It was a collaboration of 29 major artists for a fundraiser for the BBC Children In Need charity. The song was originally written and recorded by Lou Reed. In 2009 the debut album recorded by Susan Boyle became the best-selling debut album in UK chart history rising to the number one spot, She also topped the US charts setting the sales record for a female debut album with 701,000 copies sold in the first week.

The 1960s were the time of beginnings of some of the new trends in music. Those new trends would have seemed exciting then. You have shared quite interesting information.

I hadn't realized this! I like Harrison's tunes. "'\Something" was The Beatles first song written by George Harrison to be on the A-side.
