...or does someone else forget to take those protective plastic covering on your electronics or purses/bags? Hubby and I went for brunch yesterday. I was using one of my favorite purses which I have not used in a while. I bought this purse in 2018 and it's still in very good quality. While waiting for our food to be brought by our server, my husband looked at my purse and pointed at it, asking "are those protective plastic covering the hardware of your bag's handles?" To my mortification - they are indeed still there! Then I laughingly told him that when I bought it, I was very careful with it and wouldn't want it to be damaged so I did not take off the plastic covers of the hardware. Then I seemed to have forgotten about it, and now 2 years later it's still there. Trust me, I did not leave it on purpose. My mom however, is a different story. We grew up poor, and my parents do not have a lot of money to constantly replace furniture that is soiled or stained by 3 little kids. So my mom kept the protective plastic cover of our couch. I remember that it felt so weird to sit on it, and it makes this annoying squeaky sound whenever we try to sit or get up.

@Raine38 I also heard of others keeping the plastic on their furniture because they did not want others to sit on it.

@Raine38 I remember that there were some that did not want to take the plastic off because they wanted their furniture to stay clean and unused.

Not only you, me too, even the plastic covering our home furniture is not removed, just let it be so that the items will last

My mom says it also helps in making sure that the furniture is dust-free and dirt free. But the dust will just settle on the plastic, right?

I don't do that. Mom might if I let her to. She tend to keep things in the display cupboard too, letting us use the older stuff. But we buy the new stuff to replace the old ones

@Raine38 So was Mom. She didn't grow up in luxury. Which is why I understand why she's doing that. Sometimes I still sneak things out from the cupboard and throw some of the old stuff

Oh gosh, my mom is the same! She will not let us touch the stuff that she had on display in the cupboard - be it canned goods, chocolates, perfume, or a can of cookies. She said we will only have some on special occasions, whenever that will be. We always tell her that these stuff have expiration dates, they better be in our tummies than the trash. I kind of understand her because she grew up dirt poor - they used to actually have a dirt floor in their house. Only when she and her siblings have finished with their schooling did their life turn for the better. Still poor in society's standards, but much better.

It's happened with me and electronics, but I'm not sure about things like purses. Oh, I think I've forgotten to take a tag off a shirt before, or the stickers they have on some clothes.

I know what you mean about electronics. There was a time when it took me days before I took off the plastic cover of my new phone's screen. But then I told my husband who kept teasing me that I was waiting for the screen protector, so there.

believe it or not, a black shoulder bag given as a Christmas gift to me by a colleague, is still hanging, covered with the plastic wrapper used when wrapped by the store. until now.
