Covid 19 and Vaccination

Philippines
December 3, 2020 3:49am CST
I am reading news and articles in the internet. Some say there are already available vaccines for covid 19. If ever there is an available vaccine in your country would you get vaccinated immediately? Or will yhou wait for its till it is really proven effective? To be honest what Im afraid of is its side effects . Mom said that too as a nurse thats her worry .

I still think that for the moment, the best way to stay safe is not to go out. I´ll wait until vaccines are proven safe.

Vaccines are going to be available in England next week apparently. I would get it done as soon as possible, I'm over 80 so won't have to wait too long as I'm among the most vulnerable. I trust the government and if they say it's safe that's good enough for me.

@jaboUK Oh that's good news ! Yes they say senior citizens are the most vulnerable . Thus, the need for you to get protected. I love your mindset some people your age doesn't believe in vaccines and I respect them but we have to be protected all the time . Stay safe !

My country will probably receive the first vaccines pretty soon, but there will not be enough for everyone. Only people who have severe chronic illnesses will get the chance to get vaccinated. I will not be included in that group, so I don't have to decide if I want the vaccine or not. Most of us will have to wait about one year. The side effects could be a problem. I hope that there won't be any unknown side effects which are more dangerous for people who are already ill. In the beginning we don't have much experience, and I am worried about that. There could be long term side effects that we can't predict yet.

@iKONICNoona Yes, in the beginning they have to decide who will get the chance to get vaccinated. I think that the first priority here will be people who are ill, and the second priority will be healthy people who are older than 70 or 75.

@Porcospino Yes, they have a list of group of people who should have the vaccine first

@Porcospino I think every country will go first with people who are vulnerable and the rest will ave to wait. They made vaccines first to stop the spread for the meantime. Yes I hope we wont have to worry about its side effects.

I rather wait for others to try first.

@prinzcy They should make a list I think of the vulnerable individuals first then followed by the non vulnetable ones . Because the vulnerable ones needs to be protected first .

I don't even get the flu shot. Not willingly, anyway. I don't blame your mom. Ever since news of this broke out, companies have been rushing to be the first to have one ready. It can take two or more years to come up with and test one. I refuse to believe someone has done it in less than 1. I also know how those work. No, thank you. If I'm going to catch it and get sick, I'd rather be exposed like anyone else.

@iKONICNoona The chances that it will are quite high. We've had other epdemics and pandemics before, other "new" viruses in the past. The level of panic on this one is beyound anything I have ever seen. And, that's what makes this so dangerous.

@kaylachan The pressure coming from the media , false news etc makes it a lot scarier. Its impact to some have a different meaning. For now , even though the cases in our country is quite unstable , we are following safety protocols and guidelines. The same when we have a lockdown. Mom said the virus strain thst we have right now is not as deadly as the first wave , but we still have to be careful all times.

@nela13 Yes, I can wait too. The most vulnerable groups should get vaccinnated first for their safety.

I suppose I'll take it when it's available. It won't be available for everyone for a while yet, the first ones should arrive in the beginning of January. The reason I say suppose is not that I'm worried about the vaccine, but it'll depend on the infection rate when the vaccine comes

@iKONICNoona We hardly have any new infections and most of rest of the country seem to be coming our way, and then getting vaccinated isn't as important. But if they open to the rest of Europe, I'll get it. I hope they do, 'cause I miss the rest of Europe! :-)

@Torunn Yes thats correct , the people is wiser now with technology around we have the means to look for information now. Its just okay if we decide to wait .

I will, but I am just going to wait until it's proven. All companies in rush. So we don't know how the effectiveness, long term effect. In my country government planned to start the vaccination by the end of this month. But alot of people refuse and they want parliament members to get it first.
