Gonna bake cake after a long time

I used to for our building kids. Then came a time when the smell of egg started nauseating me. So baking cake ceased to be fun. Covid introduced me to these masks. I want to use those now. What I like about baking cake is, the way the dough swells. I have a tiny oven which allows me to make tiny cake (double the size of cookies). I like using that as I haven't succeeded with microwave. I am kinda excited...and nervous. 15 years is a long time!

Yeah. That seems so long. I too loved it. That is why each and every of the 14 flats used to get a cake from our home for the New Year. Then eggs started giving me trouble. And I stopped.

It went better than what I expected though not as good as I wanted. I am upbeat because of that.

I think baking powder was slightly more. It was not soft enough like my earlier ones. But it has given me confidence to bake some for Xmas. :)

I know. This was a small one so that I could make on Xmas. This one did not turn out that well. I think I was nervous and added just that pinch of baking powder more.

I am excited for you ! That is a long time. Well enjoy baking (an oven is definitely better than a microwave) and enjoy the results!!

Microwave results are bad for cakes. I don't know why. May be I am doing something wrong.

@vandana7 I have never tried baking with a microwave - only for reheating foods. But now we have not used a microwave in years! I am thinking the regular oven would give the best baking results.

Uhm... and you think someone will be willing to eat food you cooked? *grinning and teasing you*

I wish it had gone well. I got nervous. I was not sure the baking powder would be enough. I added a pinch more and that spoiled it. I mean it is still ok but it feels powdery.

@Fleura The baking powder box does not mention the exact measures. So kinda I took an estimate. Even after that I added a pinch thinking it may not be enough. That is what spoiled it. But taste wise it is ok. Dad liked it. It is much better than what we did in microwave.

15 years is a long time. But if you really enjoy baking, you will remember how to do it. Even if you fail, it's still edible because it's food.
