Day 116 Promise 576 Romans 11:5 Even so then at this present time also there is a remnant according to the election of grace. 6 And if by grace, then is it no more of works: otherwise grace is no more grace. But if it be of works, then is it no more grace: otherwise work is no more work. (KJV) A remnant is part of a whole. It is usually the last of something. Paul told the Romans God preserved a remnant in Israel who would believe in Jesus as their Savior. He told them, he was part of that remnant and gave his qualifications. Romans 11:1 I say then, Hath God cast away his people? God forbid. For I also am an Israelite, of the seed of Abraham, of the tribe of Benjamin. 2 God hath not cast away his people which he foreknew. Wot ye not what the scripture says of Elijah? How he makes intercession to God against Israel, saying, 3 Lord, they have killed thy prophets, and dug down thine altars; and I am left alone, and they seek my life. 4 But what says the answer of God unto him? I have reserved to myself seven thousand men, who have not bowed the knee to the image of Baal. God always has a remnant preserved for His glory. As Christians, God elected you according to grace, not because of what you did to earn salvation because salvation cannot be earned. He gave you faith to believe Jesus is the Son of God and your Savior. Romans 8:29 For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren. 30 Moreover whom he did predestinate, them he also called: and whom he called, them he also justified: and whom he justified, them he also glorified. (KJV) Ephesians 1:3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ: 4 According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love: 5 Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will, 6 To the praise of the glory of his grace, wherein he hath made us accepted in the beloved. (KJV) We didn’t choose Him, but He chose us at the beginning before He created the world. 1 John 4:19 We love him, because he first loved us. (KJV) It is grace, not works that brought you to Jesus Christ. Let’s pray: Father, thank you for choosing me to be Your child. Help me live in Your grace, knowing there is nothing I can do to earn Your love or salvation. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen. Copyright © 5 December 2020 by Valerie Routhieaux Image courtesy of Pixabay
