Today is the Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception, the day our Lady was conceived, in the womb of Anne, wife to Joachim. Our Lady was born nine months later, on the 8th day of September. Why is Mary the Immaculate Conception? Because She would be the Mother of Christ. Mary's Womb is the Ark of the Covenant, where Jesus became Incarnate by the Power of the Holy Spirit. The feast today is a holy day of obligation. I do hope that you have heard Mass and offered yellow roses to our Lady. I don't have yellow roses but I have immaculate white rosal. Hmmm. Very fragrant. Our Lady deserves all the beautiful flowers.

That's all right. Many Christians also do not know what the Immaculate Conception is all about. May I know what belief do you adhere to? It is all right if you do not want to say.

@msdivkar I know I have commented on this response yesterday morning, promising to check on your posts. There must have been another internet glitch, because now I see my response did not register, I have seen your post about the Diwali and the marriage season.

@eileenleyva The feast of the Immaculate Conception was celebrated already in the seventh century in Palestine, well before the apparition of Lourdes.

Today is a National holiday here just because of that. I prefer the pink roses but also peach ones too very hard to get at this time of year. Our Lady of Guadalupe is on the 12th of this month too.

Gosh, I love all the colors of the roses. I know what you mean, there's a certain softness in the pink and peach roses. Our Lady appears soft and gentle.

@lovinangelsinstead21 Yes, I love Our Lady of Guadalupe. We celebrate Her feast on the 12th but She appeared to Juan Diego first on the ninth. That is why I was praying to Her yesterday, my daughter's birthday. Our Lady of Guadalupe used to be our Patroness when we were under the Archdiocese of Mexico. Later on, the Philippines, with our own archdiocese, our Patroness has been Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception.

@Shavkat If you can't, just offer flowers on your altar. Mama Mary knows the sunflowers are for Her.

Yes. Yes. Our Lady will love the sunflowers. She comes forth as the morning rising, bright as the sun. Do offer your sunflowers to our Lady.

Today was declared as special holiday because of the feast of Immaculate Conception. It is just unlucky that we cannot go to church to attend the mass because of the pandemic.

Pope Francis has dispensed us from physically going to church because of the pandemia. But it is still imperative that we hear Mass online and make the Spiritual Communion.

@magallon Daily Masses have become popular this pandemia. I even know of a family preparing for Mass each day because it's became a daily date.

More than tradition. Our Lady is the Mother of our God, the only perfect Human Being in Whose Womb the Messiah was conceived and made Man. Our Lady provided our Lord's Human Nature. That is why we celebrate Her 'Immaculate Conception.' Our Lady was instrument into fulfilling of the coming of the Messiah.
